This New World tropical genus has numerous very similar species. Most of them are colored black and gray just about like this one. Their legs are rather long, and they almost always perch on top of leaves rather than on twigs. They live around quiet water of rain forest lakes and swamps, although their breeding habits are virtually unknown. This species is known only from Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru.
