Austroagrion exclamationis est un tout petit Coenagrionidae de moins de 25 mm, aux couleurs vives, qui passe facilement inaper\u00e7u, d’autant qu’il aime \u00e0 se tenir sur les n\u00e9nuphars \u00e0 distance de la rive. Il se distingue des 2 autres Austroagrion que nous aurions pu rencontrer<\/em> par le dessin noir caract\u00e9ristique des 2 derniers segments, o\u00f9 la coloration occupe environ la moiti\u00e9 de la longueur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son nom vernaculaire explicite sa distribution en Australie, il est appel\u00e9 Northern Billabongfly. Les \u00ab\u00a0billabongs\u00a0\u00bb en langue aborig\u00e8ne sont des m\u00e9andres morts<\/em>, et ont l’apparence d’une mare ou d’un marais p\u00e9renne. Ce sont des sites de choix pour les crocodiles et m\u00eame si je n’en ai pas rencontr\u00e9, la consigne \u00e9tait de rester prudent… 2 photos ci-dessus sont faites sur le site Marlow Lagoon<\/a>, espace typique de l’endroit o\u00f9 l’on trouve ce petit odonate. Mais on le trouve \u00e9galement sur parties calmes des ruisseaux.
Mais il n’est pas limit\u00e9 au Territoire du Nord puisqu’on le rencontre aussi en Nouvelle-Guin\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Austroagrion est un compos\u00e9 du latin Auster<\/em>, pour sud<\/em>, comme dans austral ou… Australie, et de agrion<\/em>, du grec Agrios- sauvage, vivant dans les champs. C’est un Agrion du Sud.
Exclamationis, du latin exclamatio<\/em> pour exclamation<\/em>, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence selon Campion au dessin de forme de \u00ab\u00a0!\u00a0\u00bb du 3\u00b0 segment abdominal. Je ne le trouve pas tellement diff\u00e9rent du S4, ou du S5, et ce m\u00eame dessin en Europe, port\u00e9 par exemple par Enallagma cyathigerum est plut\u00f4t assimil\u00e9 \u00e0 une \u00ab\u00a0torpille\u00a0\u00bb, mais il est vrai qu’ici la base est vraiment resserr\u00e9e.

Si nous l’avons rencontr\u00e9 13 jours sur les 24 de nos prospections, je n’ai vu qu’une seule femelle, sur laquelle on retrouve les m\u00eames motifs thoraciques et les torpilles \u00e9trangl\u00e9es<\/em> pr\u00e9sentes sur la face dorsale de l’abdomen du m\u00e2le.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finalement, 5 mois apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9dig\u00e9 ces lignes, j’ai retrouv\u00e9 dans mes photos une autre femelle, vue sans aucun m\u00e2le. Elle est bien caract\u00e9ristique avec son pronotum montrant un lobe central triangulaire et ses 2 petites gouttes color\u00e9es lat\u00e9rales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
