C’est avec une certaine r\u00e9serve que je pr\u00e9sente ces photos d’Anax guttatus, m\u00eame si c’est sans doute lui (et elle), je n’ai pas de preuve absolue. Celle-ci serait apport\u00e9e par l’absence de marque noire dite en forme de \u00ab\u00a0T\u00a0\u00bb sur la partie ant\u00e9rieure du front. Je n’ai malheureusement pas pens\u00e9 \u00e0 cette incidence sur le terrain, juste \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de nos tentes, dans le camping.
Cette marque, ou plut\u00f4t son absence, le distingue de son tr\u00e8s proche cousin Anax gibbosulus. Et autant il est facile d’indiquer une marque, autant il est difficile de montrer son absence…
Cependant, les agrandissements, notamment des premiers segments abdominaux, semblent nettement en faveur du Lesser Green Emperor, comme le nomment les anglo-saxons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ma conviction repose \u00e9galement sur la longueur apparente de la lame supra anale<\/a> ; elle est un peu plus longue que pour Anax gibbosulus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est un grand odonate, comme A. gibbosulus ou A. imperator, qui atteint 8 cm de long et 11 cm d’envergure.
Il aime les espaces ouverts, les grandes pi\u00e8ces d’eau, mais aussi les rivi\u00e8res calmes.
Phil a captur\u00e9 successivement un m\u00e2le et une femelle (ci-dessous) dans un espace assez large du camping ou d’assez nombreux odonates devaient \u00eatre occup\u00e9s \u00e0 chasser : je dis \u00ab\u00a0devaient\u00a0\u00bb car il \u00e9tait 18 heures 50, la nuit \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 tomb\u00e9e, et nous, nous ne voyions pas les proies !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On remarque que le dimorphisme sexuel<\/a> est tr\u00e8s r\u00e9duit, seuls les appendices anaux permettent de sexer la prise.
Cette femelle ne para\u00eet pas non plus avoir de \u00ab\u00a0T\u00a0\u00bb noir, mais l’angle de vue n’est certainement pas adapt\u00e9 !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son aire de distribution est gigantesque, de l’Inde et du Japon \u00e0 l’Australie.

Anax vient d\u2019un mot grec signifiant\u00a0roi<\/em>,\u00a0souverain<\/em>\u00a0et est attribu\u00e9 au caract\u00e8re dominant que sugg\u00e8rent sa grande taille et son comportement (1).
Guttatus du latin –gutta<\/em> pour marque<\/em> ou goutte<\/em>, et du suffixe latin –atus<\/em> signifiant dot\u00e9 de<\/em>, pour insister sur les paires de marques color\u00e9es jaunes port\u00e9es par les segments abdominaux.
