C’est alors que j’essayais de photographier Atratothemis reelsi sur une petite mare pr\u00e8s de Pia Oac, que j’ai aper\u00e7u, juste \u00e0 ma gauche, pos\u00e9 sur cette magnifique foug\u00e8re, le seul m\u00e2le Trigomphus carus (Gomphidae) que nous verrons pendant ce s\u00e9jour. Il fait partie de la dizaine (environ) de Trigomphus connus, presque tous chinois, sauf un autre que nous n’avons pas rencontr\u00e9 et qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert par Tom Kompier au Vietnam (il porte son nom).
\u00c0 part le fait qu’il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Chao en 1954, je n’ai trouv\u00e9 aucun autre d\u00e9tail sur ce Trigomphus carus que la taille de l’abdomen sur le blog de Tom, 36-37 mm, ce qui doit correspondre \u00e0 une taille totale d’approximativement 48 mm.
Sa r\u00e9partition est \u00e9tonnante, car avant que Tom ne le d\u00e9couvre \u00e0 Pia Oac en avril 2015, il n’\u00e9tait connu apparemment qu’au Fujian, province chinoise d’o\u00f9 il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit. Mais cette province est loin \u00e0 l’est de Pia Oac et du Vietnam, et en est s\u00e9par\u00e9 par les provinces chinoises du Guangdong et du Guangxi, et il serait \u00e9tonnant qu’il y ait une telle lacune dans sa distribution. Mais c’est une esp\u00e8ce de montagne, et une esp\u00e8ce qui fait sans doute partie de celles qu’il faut aller chercher l\u00e0 ou pas grand monde ne se prom\u00e8ne.
Cette Google map<\/a> situe Pia Oac et montre la distance qui nous s\u00e9pare du Fujian, en face de Ta\u00efwan. L’observation a \u00e9t\u00e9 faite \u00e0 environ 1330 m d’altitude.

Ci-dessous une autre photo quasiment identique, car il \u00e9tait impossible de progresser du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la mare o\u00f9 il \u00e9tait perch\u00e9, et il me fallait c\u00e9der ma place pour que mes compagnons puissent profiter de cette nouvelle esp\u00e8ce de notre s\u00e9jour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
