Le 30 d\u00e9cembre 2022, j’attaque, par ordre alphab\u00e9tique, les Nososicta que j’ai rencontr\u00e9s en Australie. Nososticta baroalba est le premier de la liste.
C’est un genre qui compte au moins 50 esp\u00e8ces, qui s’\u00e9tend de l’Afrique \u00e0 l’Australie, en passant par l’Indon\u00e9sie. Heureusement<\/em>, il n’y a que 12 esp\u00e8ces en Australie et c’est bien assez pour se sentir perdu quand on est sur le terrain et qu’on les d\u00e9couvre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je commence par un des plus simples \u00e0 identifier, le Black-winged threadtail ; une fine bande ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rale incompl\u00e8te, et surtout la partie m\u00e9diane des ailes fortement ambr\u00e9e \u00e0 maturit\u00e9 caract\u00e9risent Nososticta baroalba. Toutes les photos sauf une ont \u00e9t\u00e9 faites le long ou sur un torrent, tr\u00e8s \u00e0 l’ombre, et sans pouvoir vraiment approcher…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On remarque les pt\u00e9rostigmas tr\u00e8s importants par rapport \u00e0 la surface de l’aile, les yeux bicolores, avec une limite tr\u00e8s nettement d\u00e9finie, et le tr\u00e8s petit thorax, moins de 3 mm, par rapport \u00e0 la longueur globale de l’insecte, qui atteint 29 mm de la t\u00eate aux appendices anaux. Ces chiffres peuvent \u00eatre v\u00e9rifi\u00e9s dans \u00ab\u00a0The Australian Protoneurinae\u00a0\u00bb (2) qui d\u00e9crit en 1984 6 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces de Nososticta que je pr\u00e9senterais ici.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il n’est connu que de l’extr\u00eame nord du Territoire du Nord et le nombre de contacts avec l’esp\u00e8ce a \u00e9t\u00e9 assez limit\u00e9 jusqu’\u00e0 maintenant. Il privil\u00e9gie les ruisseaux ombrag\u00e9s ou envahis de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation (voire de toiles d’araign\u00e9es \ud83d\ude03, Nephila sp. ), comme ci-dessous :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les femelles pr\u00e9sentent les m\u00eames motifs thoraciques et abdominaux, mais leurs ailes sont moins color\u00e9es, voire pas du tout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nososticta vient de 2 mots grecs, le premier signifie maladie<\/em>, le second tatou\u00e9<\/em> ou marqu\u00e9<\/em>, ce qui pour les odonates se rapporte souvent aux pt\u00e9rostigmas. Pourquoi maladie, c’est une \u00e9nigme,car Hagen lorsqu’il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre pour N. solida n’a donn\u00e9 aucune indication.
Baroalba se r\u00e9f\u00e8re tr\u00e8s simplement \u00e0 l’endroit o\u00f9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 captur\u00e9 l’holotype<\/a>, Baroalba Creek Springs, dans le Territoire du Nord, non loin de Jabiru, dans le Kakadu National Park (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
