Coenagrion mercuriale : pr\u00e9sentation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il m’a fallu trois ans de recherche avant de trouver l’Agrion de mercure. Il n’est sans doute pas si rare, mais il faut le chercher dans des biotopes un peu inhabituels. Il ne fr\u00e9quente ni les \u00e9tangs ou les mares, ni les rivi\u00e8res. On le trouve dans les petits ruisseaux qui courent dans les p\u00e2tures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celui-ci, seul de son esp\u00e8ce, fr\u00e9quentait un ru de 80 m de long issu d’une source dans le champ m\u00eame et qui disparaissait plus loin dans une\u2026 buse.
Il vivait avec quelques Pyrrhosoma nymphula et quelques Platycnemis pennipes dans ce ruisselet avec 2 ou 3 cm d’eau divaguant entre des touffes d’herbes et de joncs, pi\u00e9tin\u00e9es par les vaches. Plus de boue que d’eau, mais le filet d’eau doit \u00eatre p\u00e9renne en \u00e9t\u00e9.

Description – Identification<\/span>
C’est le plus petit des agrions bleus, il mesure 29 \u00e0 31 mm avec une aile post\u00e9rieure de 15 \u00e0 20 mm.
Le m\u00e2le est classiquement identifi\u00e9 par le motif de son 2\u00b0 segment abdominal, qui repr\u00e9sente un casque gaulois, plus exactement un casque ail\u00e9, symbole du Dieu Herm\u00e8s ou Mercure<\/em>. Ce dessin est malheureusement assez variable. Son 2\u00b0 segment est aussi tr\u00e8s typique et associ\u00e9 au premier, l’identification ne laisse gu\u00e8re de doute. Ses tarses sont alternativement sombres et clairs (sombres pour C. puella, mais plus je fais attention \u00e0 ce crit\u00e8re, plus il me para\u00eet douteux).
Les femelles sont polymorphes<\/a> et plus difficiles \u00e0 identifier, car elles sont tr\u00e8s proches des femelles Coenagrion puella, et on doit recourir \u00e0 l’examen du pronotum<\/a> ; il n’y a pas d’alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Habitat et distribution g\u00e9ographique<\/span>
Ils se plaisent sur les ruisseaux et ruisselets, tr\u00e8s peu profonds, les foss\u00e9s dont l’eau est courante et qui sont bien v\u00e9g\u00e9talis\u00e9s, en particulier de v\u00e9g\u00e9taux tendres<\/em>, bien adapt\u00e9s \u00e0 la ponte endophyte<\/a>. Ils aiment les terrains calcaires et n’acceptent que des cours d’eau p\u00e9rennes, bien ensoleill\u00e9s, et en milieu ouvert, dans les prairies, les marais ou les landes.
Il est pr\u00e9sent du nord de l’Alg\u00e9rie et du Maroc jusqu’en Angleterre et en Hollande au nord, la limite est<\/em> \u00e9tant repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par l’Italie, la Suisse, l’Autriche et l’Allemagne. Plus \u00e0 l’est<\/em>, il est remplac\u00e9<\/em> par Coenagrion ornatum.

Un peu d’\u00e9tymologie<\/strong>
Coenagrion<\/span> est form\u00e9 des deux mots grecs Koinos<\/em> – commun<\/em> et Agrios<\/em> – vivant dans les champs, sauvage<\/em>. Ce nom de genre a \u00e9t\u00e9 compos\u00e9 lorsqu’il a fallu rediviser les familles existantes, de nouvelles esp\u00e8ces \u00e9tant d\u00e9couvertes, le terme \u00ab\u00a0agrion\u00a0\u00bb s’av\u00e9rant insuffisant.
Mercuriale<\/span> fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au casque ail\u00e9 du Dieu Mercure, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au dessin port\u00e9 par son 2\u00b0 segment abdominal.<\/p>\n\n\n
