Histoire Naturelle des Insectes, 1842,\u00a0 Pierre Rambur avait rang\u00e9 tout ce que nous appelons aujourd&rsquo;hui Tramea dans le genre Libellula, certainement partiellement en raison de la tache alaire basale, mais il reconnaissait un grand nombre d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces dans ce genre&#8230;<br>\u00a0 Il a not\u00e9 dans son Histoire Naturelle des Insectes, 1842, que cette Tramea ressemblait fortement \u00e0 Tramea carolina (Linnaeus, 1763) (\u00ab\u00a0ressemblant extr\u00eamement \u00e0 la <em>carolina<\/em> et n&rsquo;en \u00e9tant peut-\u00eatre qu&rsquo;une vari\u00e9t\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb)\u202f; or les 2 esp\u00e8ces \u00e9taient \u00e9tiquet\u00e9es comme provenant de l&rsquo;Am\u00e9rique septentrionale et je suppose que Rambur a voulu la consid\u00e9rer comme une proche cousine de <em>carolina<\/em> et l&rsquo;a appel\u00e9 <em>virginia<\/em> pour rappeler le nom de l&rsquo;\u00e9tat voisin (la Virginie et la Caroline sont 2 \u00e9tats voisins des U.S.A).<br>Pourtant, l&rsquo;entomologiste De G\u00e9er, avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9bauch\u00e9 (en latin) une description de l&rsquo;esp\u00e8ce et l&rsquo;avait nomm\u00e9e L. chinensis, ce qui \u00e9tait certainement plus raisonnable quant \u00e0 la provenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"706\" tr\u00e8s mauvaise qualit\u00e9 de ces photos (malheureusement \u00e0 grande distance) on note la grande \u00e9tendue des taches alaires ant\u00e9rieures et post\u00e9rieures qui la s\u00e9parent de Tramea transmarina, et le fait que sur l&rsquo;aile post\u00e9rieure cette coloration n&rsquo;est pas fen\u00eatr\u00e9e comme pour Tramea basilaris.<br>Il mesure environ 56 \u00e0 57 mm, fr\u00e9quente les mares, marais et\u00a0 \u00e9tangs entour\u00e9s de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, et se rencontre depuis l&rsquo;ouest de l&rsquo;Inde jusqu&rsquo;en Cor\u00e9e et \u00e0 Hong Kong.<br><a
