Nososticta fraterna, un Platycnemididae, pas de chance pour lui, est un des moins int\u00e9ressants de son genre, un des moins color\u00e9s. Si on ajoute qu’il se pla\u00eet en for\u00eat, \u00e0 l’ombre presque, il ne lui reste que son \u00e9l\u00e9gance pour nous s\u00e9duire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Northern threadtail<\/em> est facile \u00e0 identifier avec une large tache claire sur le pronotum, sa fine bande ante hum\u00e9rale quasiment compl\u00e8te (80%), des traits clairs tr\u00e8s fins sur la face dorsale des premiers segments d’un abdomen sombre, tr\u00e8s longs et ses petits appendices anaux clairs et pointus ; ces derniers deviennent peut-\u00eatre sombres quand les sujets vieillissent. Il mesure environ 30 mm (25 pour l’abdomen). On note \u00e9galement pour les m\u00e2les une tache claire visible de profil sous S8 alors que pour les femelles, elle s’\u00e9tend \u00e9galement sous S9, le long de l’ovipositeur, les ailes des m\u00e2les sont souvent l\u00e9g\u00e8rement ambr\u00e9e pr\u00e8s de leur base.
Son abdomen est tellement long et fin qu’il a d’abord \u00e9t\u00e9 class\u00e9 parmi les Protoneuridae sous le nom de Notoneura fraterna, c’est ainsi que l’avait d\u00e9crit Lieftinck (avec des appendices anaux sombres, mais c’\u00e9tait un sujet de collection, et non pas vivant).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il habite les ruisseaux et les rivi\u00e8res, tels que ce petit cours d’eau \u00e0 Coomalie Creek :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ajoute tardivement cette photo d’un m\u00e2le un peu diff\u00e9rent, dont la bande ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rale est encore plus r\u00e9duite ; mais il ne fait pas de doute, par \u00e9limination, que c’est bien Nososticta fraterna. On peut comparer i<\/a><\/strong>ci<\/strong><\/a> les bandes ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rales sur le document de Watson & Theisinger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les femelles ne sont pas plus rares que les m\u00e2les, elles montrent les m\u00eames motifs thoraciques et abdominaux, sans doute un peu plus jaunes sur le thorax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est end\u00e9mique d’Australie et sa distribution le limite au nord du Territoire du Nord et l’extr\u00eame ouest du Queensland voisin. Atlas of Living Australia<\/a>.

Nososticta est issu de 2 mots grecs, le premier, dont on retrouve la racine en fran\u00e7ais dans nosocomial<\/em>, par exemple, signifiant maladie<\/em> et le second sticta<\/em>, signifiant marqu\u00e9, ce qui pour les odonates se rapporte aux pt\u00e9rostigmas. Cette \u00ab\u00a0maladie\u00a0\u00bb est une \u00e9nigme et il n’y a pas d’indication dans la description de l’esp\u00e8ce sur laquelle le nom de genre est bas\u00e9, Nososticta solida.
Fraterna, du latin fraternus, -fr\u00e8re, pour souligner sa ressemblance avec Neosticta solitaria ; et pour cause, ce dernier a chang\u00e9 de genre et a int\u00e9gr\u00e9 \u00e9galement les Nososticta.

Pour un d\u00e9butant en odonatofaune australienne comme moi, c’est un genre difficile, quand ils ne sont pas bien diff\u00e9renci\u00e9s par la coloration alaire ou des taches de couleur sur le thorax.
Ce genre me fait un peu penser, dans une moindre mesure, aux difficult\u00e9s que l’on rencontre pour identifier les Argia am\u00e9ricains, ou taxonomiquement plus proches, les Coeliccia asiatiques, car il y a au moins 62 esp\u00e8ces de Nososticta, dont heureusement<\/em>, seulement 12 en Australie.
