Nososticta solitaria se distingue facilement de ses nombreux cousins par les 5 marques blanches de son abdomen, celles sur le 5\u00b0 et le 8\u00b0 \u00e9tant plus marqu\u00e9es ; cette particularit\u00e9 lui vaut son nom australien, Fivespots threadtail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est assez variable et si la bande ante hum\u00e9rale reste toujours discr\u00e8te, sa coloration comme la coloration des marques claires thoraciques et abdominales peut-\u00eatre bleu clair ou vert clair. Comme on le constate, les ailes peuvent \u00eatre ambr\u00e9es.
Ci-dessous, un m\u00e2le certainement \u00e9merg\u00e9 le jour m\u00eame, sur lequel on retrouve facilement les marques abdominales caract\u00e9ristiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les femelles seraient sans doute impossibles \u00e0 diff\u00e9rencier des autres Nososticta si leur pronotum ne montrait pas une forme tr\u00e8s sp\u00e9cifique assez facilement visible sur une vue de profil. Sa marge post\u00e9rieure est en effet tr\u00e8s redress\u00e9e et recourb\u00e9e en avant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elles ont peu de marques blanches sur l’abdomen, d’autant qu’elles s’estompent en vieillissant et en l’absence de vue correcte sur le pronotum, il faut proc\u00e9der par \u00e9limination. Cette femelle ci-dessous est encore jeune, on n’a pas de vue de profil de son pronotum, mais les marques abdominales permettent \u00e0 Graham Winterflood sur Inaturalist, de confirmer l’identification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 gauche, c’est une femelle \u00e9mergente sur laquelle on retrouve ce pronotum particulier dont la forme intervient certainement dans la fa\u00e7on dont le m\u00e2le assure sa prise lors de l’accouplement.

Le m\u00e2le mesure 35 \u00e0 40 mm et s’observe sur les ruisseaux et rivi\u00e8res, de l’est du Queensland.
Les donn\u00e9es enregistr\u00e9es dans l’\u00e9tat de Victoria ou Nouvelle-Galles-du-Sud montr\u00e9es sur l’IUCN Red List<\/a> sont sans doute erron\u00e9es, comme le montre l’Atlas of Living Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Les tandems, comme, les accouplements, sont l’occasion de s’assurer de l’aspect des femelles qui sont en principe vues plus rarement et qui \u00e9galement portent moins de signes distinctifs que les m\u00e2les, sont moins color\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nososticta (1) est issu de 2 mots grecs, le premier, dont on retrouve la racine en fran\u00e7ais dans nosocomial<\/em>, par exemple, signifiant maladie,<\/em> et le second sticta<\/em>, signifiant marqu\u00e9, ce qui pour les odonates se rapporte aux pt\u00e9rostigmas. Cette \u00ab maladie \u00bb est une \u00e9nigme et il n\u2019y a pas d\u2019indication dans la description de l\u2019esp\u00e8ce sur laquelle le nom de genre est bas\u00e9, Nososticta solida.
Solitaria du latin solitarius<\/em>, pour solitaire<\/em>, et Tillyard explique que presque chaque jour o\u00f9 il a collect\u00e9 des sp\u00e9cimens, il n’a rapport\u00e9 qu’un seul de ces Nososticta solitaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
