Xanthagrion erythroneurum m\u00e2le, Australie (FNQ), Innot Hot Springs, 11\/12\/2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Xanthagrion erythroneurum est tr\u00e8s spectaculaire et tr\u00e8s commun en Australie ; cependant nous ne l’avons rencontr\u00e9 qu’une seule fois, 2 ou 3 individus sur une grande mare, extr\u00eamement difficiles \u00e0 approcher. Il a fallu au moins 3 heures de recherches et de patience pour faire ces photos.
Il est seul dans le genre Xanthagrion et il est \u00e9videment impossible \u00e0 confondre avec un autre Coenagrionidae gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa coloration rouge et bleue ; les Australiens l’ont tr\u00e8s opportun\u00e9ment nomm\u00e9 the Red and blue Damsel<\/em>. Il mesure environ 29 mm, 22 \u00e0 23 mm pour l’abdomen.
Les femelles (nous n’avons aper\u00e7u qu’un tandem) sont sensiblement diff\u00e9rentes ; le thorax est orange p\u00e2le tr\u00e8s terne et la face dorsale de l’abdomen compl\u00e8tement noire. Selys dans sa description (2) indique \u00ab\u00a0C’est une esp\u00e8ce qui imite assez bien, pour sa coloration, la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 femelle orang\u00e9e de l’Ischnura elegans<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il se pla\u00eet sur les mares, les barrages, les marais et les eaux faiblement courantes.
Il est pr\u00e9sent dans tous les \u00e9tats australiens, mais surtout en p\u00e9riph\u00e9rie du continent, avec une pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour le quart sud-est et la limite ouest. Mais on le trouve \u00e9galement en Nouvelle-Cal\u00e9donie, aux iles Fidji, dans d’autres iles du pacifique et en Tasmanie.

Xanthagrion (1) du grec Xanthos<\/em>, –jaune<\/em> et de agrion<\/em> -du grec\u00a0agrios<\/em>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0vivant dans les champs, sauvage<\/em> qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 dans de nombreuses combinaisons pour nommer des Coenagrionidae ; dans sa description Selys mentionne la coloration orang\u00e9e pour le m\u00e2le, et jaune pour la face inf\u00e9rieure de l’abdomen de la femelle.
Erythroneurum, du grec erythros -rouge<\/em> et neurum, du grec neuron -nerf<\/em> pour souligner la coloration de la nervation : \u00ab\u00a0la plupart des grandes nervures rouge\u00e2tres, surtout \u00e0 la base\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
