D\u00e8s que j'ai aper\u00e7u cet Orthetrum migratum j'ai pens\u00e9 aux Orthetrum pruinosum<\/a> ou schneideri<\/a> <\/a>que l'on rencontre en Asie. Il y a \u00e9videmment des diff\u00e9rences sensibles mais l'aspect g\u00e9n\u00e9ral est assez proche ; il montre cependant un curieux d\u00e9grad\u00e9 de couleur sur l'abdomen, \u00e9voluant du rose \u00e0 la base vers un rouge vif \u00e0 l'apex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s impossible de le confondre avec un autre Libellulidae en Australie en raison du contraste entre son abdomen rouge ou ros\u00e9 (Rosy skimmer) et son thorax couvert d'une pulverulence bleue ou grise.
On le rencontre sur les ruisseaux, les marais et mar\u00e9cages, les zones calmes (pisicines<\/em>) des rivi\u00e8res.

La position adopt\u00e9e par le sujet ci-dessous est vraiment \u00e9tonnante et je ne pense pas avoir d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu une telle situation ; cramponn\u00e9 sous<\/strong> la branche, ce sujet d\u00e9vore un autre anisopt\u00e8re, impossible \u00e0 identifier avec ce qu'il en reste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est largement r\u00e9pandu ou plut\u00f4t diss\u00e9min\u00e9 dans toute la moiti\u00e9 nord de l'Australie, sans pour cela \u00eatre commun, car on rel\u00e8ve assez peu de donn\u00e9es (et on trouve tr\u00e8s peu de renseignements sur l'esp\u00e8ce). Nous ne l'avons rencontr\u00e9 que 3 ou 4 fois dans le Territoire du Nord mais pas dans le Queensland. Il serait \u00e9galement cit\u00e9 au Timor Oriental.

Les femelles sont assez caract\u00e9ristiques, jaunes, avec une fine bande claire sur la face dorsale du thorax (large pour O. villosovittatum) et dot\u00e9e, sous le 8\u00b0 segment, d'une expansion ventrale \u00e0 marge noire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orthetrum (1) vient de 2 mots grecs, orthos<\/em> signifiant \"droit<\/em>\u00a0\"\u00a0et\u00a0etron<\/em>, \"abdomen<\/em>\"\u00a0, ceci pour signifier que les c\u00f4t\u00e9s de l\u2019abdomen sont parall\u00e8les. Ce nom de genre cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Newman en 1833 a perdu sa pertinence avec la d\u00e9couverte de nouvelles esp\u00e8ces, mais le nom est rest\u00e9.
Migratum du latin -migratus<\/em> signifiant enlever, migrer<\/em>. Je n'ai malheureusement pas eu acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la description original mais il me semble que si Lieftinck lui a donn\u00e9 ce nom c'est qu'il pensait, s'appuyant sur une citation de Tillyard, que les sujets australiens \u00e9taient issus d'une migration au moins vers la p\u00e9ninsule du Cap York, \u00e0 travers le d\u00e9troit de Torres depuis la Nouvelle Guin\u00e9e. Pourtant il ne semble pas pr\u00e9sent en Nouvelle-Guin\u00e9e, mais au Timor-Oriental et son aire principale est l'Australie...<\/p>\n\n\n\n
