Lorsque Ren\u00e9 Martin a d\u00e9crit Macromidia rapida en 1907 ( Cordulines, Collections Zoologiques, Baron E. Selys Longchamps<\/a>) \u00e0 partir d’un exemplaire du Tonkin,<\/em> il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 pour lui, \u00e0 la fois, le genre Macromidia et l’esp\u00e8ce, qu’il a plac\u00e9s dans les Corduliidae. Il pr\u00e9cise qu’il est tr\u00e8s proche des Macromia, des Idionyx, et qu’il ressemble \u00e0 notre Oxygastra curtisii, surtout pour la ligne jaune qui parcourt la face dorsale de son abdomen (raison pour laquelle j’ai plac\u00e9 cette 2\u00b0 photo ci-dessous, aussi mauvaise que la premi\u00e8re, mais qui permet d’apercevoir cette ligne jaune).\u00a0
Actuellement, il est sans famille, son appartenance au Synthemistidae ou au Gomphomacromiidae est discut\u00e9e… (en janvier 2025 sa position n’a pas \u00e9volu\u00e9, toujours incertae sedis<\/em>).

M\u00e2les et femelles montrent le m\u00eame motif thoracique et abdominal, en particulier des marques jaunes distinctives sur le 2\u00b0 segment (ce qu’on voit mieux <\/em>pour la femelle sur les photos de pr\u00e9dation). Martin souligne que les appendices anaux du m\u00e2le sont jaunes \u00e0 pointes noires. Tous les deux  portent une ligne jaune plus ou moins continue sur la face dorsale de l’abdomen.

Nous n’avons rencontr\u00e9 l’esp\u00e8ce que dans une rivi\u00e8re de for\u00eat \u00e0 faible pente, au lit sableux et rocailleux parsem\u00e9 de rochers, \u00e0 Xuan Son, environ 60 km au nord-est d’Hano\u00ef. Elle est aussi connue en Tha\u00eflande, et dans le sud de la Chine (Hainan, Guangxi, Guangdong) et Hong Kong ou il est commun puisqu’il y a re\u00e7u le nom de Common Shadow-emerald.

Il mesure approximativement 48 mm.

Quelques minutes avant de faire ces photos du m\u00e2le, j’avais fait la photo d’une araign\u00e9e assez spectaculaire, post\u00e9e sur un rocher, quelques centim\u00e8tres au-dessus de l’eau, sans doute une Dolomedes mizhoanus :

Et pendant que je faisais lesdites photos, elle n’a pas perdu son temps puisque l’un de nous l’a trouv\u00e9e en train de d\u00e9vorer justement une femelle Macromidia rapida, s\u00fbrement en ponte au moment de sa capture…

Oui, c’est bien la t\u00eate de l’infortun\u00e9e que l’on voit flotter \u00e0 droite…
Il s’agit d’une Pisauridae, d’approximativement 50 \u00e0 55 mm d’envergure qui se nourrit d’amphibiens, de petits poissons et de temps en temps de libellules, et qui chasse \u00e0 l’aff\u00fbt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
