Rhodothemis lieftincki, Red arrow pour les Australiens, est un Libellulidae tr\u00e8s commun dans le Territoire du Nord, sans doute beaucoup moins dans le nord du Queensland. J'ai des photos de cette esp\u00e8ce sur 20 jours diff\u00e9rents et sur nombre d'images j'ai constat\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence d'un dipt\u00e8re parasite, comme sur l'aile ant\u00e9rieure gauche du sujet ci-dessus. J'en ai fait un agrandissement ci-dessous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce dipt\u00e8re ressemble \u00e0 ce que j'ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 pu voir, surtout en Asie, mais aussi en France, un parasite du genre Forcipomyia ; mais je n'ai aucun moyen de savoir s'il s'agit de ce m\u00eame genre ou d'une autre famille. Ce genre de dipt\u00e8re parasite se fixe sur les nervures de l'odonate et se nourrit de l'h\u00e9molymphe de son h\u00f4te. Un autre est visible sur l'aile ant\u00e9rieure droite du sujet du sujet de droite ci-dessous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avec son thorax marron orn\u00e9 de 2 bandes ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rales tr\u00e8s claires et son abdomen rouge vif, il est tr\u00e8s difficile de le confondre avec un autre Libellulidae rouge : Diplacodes haematodes<\/a> est enti\u00e8rement rouge, Urothemis aliena<\/a> montre des taches alaires basales tr\u00e8s fonc\u00e9es, Orthetrum villosovittatum<\/a> a des yeux gris-vert, Macrodiplax cora<\/a> n'a pas de bandes claires sur le thorax.
Il mesure environ 42 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est seul de son genre en Australie et a d'abord \u00e9t\u00e9 confondu avec Rhodothemis rufa<\/a>, dont il est en effet tr\u00e8s proche et dont l'aire de r\u00e9partition s'\u00e9tend de l'Inde aux \u00eeles Salomon, mais n'atteint pas l'Australie.
Rhodothemis lieftincki se trouve dans la r\u00e9gion c\u00f4ti\u00e8re large depuis Geralton \u00e0 l'extr\u00eame ouest de l'Australie occidentale, jusqu'\u00e0 Sydney \u00e0 l'est ; il n'est donc absent que de la c\u00f4te sud de l'Australie. Mais on le rencontre \u00e9galement en Papouasie Nouvelle-Guin\u00e9e et dans les \u00eeles Salomon.

Nous avons rencontr\u00e9 plusieurs m\u00e2les immatures, qui, comme presque toujours chez les Libellulidae ressemblent beaucoup au femelles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
