Lorsqu’en 2016 Quoc Toan Phan & Tom Kompier ont publi\u00e9 A study of the genus Protosticta Selys, 1855, with descriptions of four new species from Vietnam (Odonata: Platystictidae)<\/em> on comptait 41 esp\u00e8ces de Protosticta. Ce papier en ajoute 4 nouvelles et porte \u00e0 9 le nombre d’esp\u00e8ces connues au Vietnam. Le genre est difficile (tr\u00e8s difficile pour un amateur…) et cette complexit\u00e9 pourrait conduire \u00e0 d’autres changements de nomenclature.
L’esp\u00e8ce a d’abord \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crite par Asahina \u00e0 partir d’une femelle du parc nationale de Tam Dao comme une sous-esp\u00e8ce de Protosticta  khaosoidaoensis sous le nom de Protosticta  khaosoidaoensis satoi en raison de diff\u00e9rences avec l’esp\u00e8ce nominale d\u00e9crite en Tha\u00eflande par Asahina. Mais en 2008 Van Tool examinant \u00e0 nouveau ce mat\u00e9riel et le trouvant diff\u00e9rent de P.  khaosoidaoensis l’a \u00e9lev\u00e9 au rang d’esp\u00e8ce sous le nom de Protosticta satoi.
Il y a m\u00eame reconnu 2 formes, une claire et une fonc\u00e9. Mais en 2016, Tom Kompier dans New species of Protosticta Selys from Vietnam with a key to the males of the P. curiosa group<\/em> a \u00e9lev\u00e9 la forme sombre au rang d’esp\u00e8ce sous le nom de Protosticta nigra en raison de diff\u00e9rences morphologiques des appendices anaux.

Ci-dessus on peut appr\u00e9cier comme ses ailes sont courtes par rapport \u00e0 son abdomen d\u00e9mesur\u00e9ment long et fin ; si on se base sur une mesure moyenne de l’abdomen de 42 mm (Phan et Kompier donnent des extr\u00eames de 39 \u00e0 45 mm) la longueur totale de l’insecte d\u00e9passe \u00e0 peine 48 mm et le diam\u00e8tre de l’abdomen atteint \u00e0 peine 0.5 mm dans ses parties les plus fines.
Je trouve tout de m\u00eame surprenant la diff\u00e9rence d’aspect du pronotum de ces 2 sujets; l’un \u00e0 gauche est sombre, vert m\u00e9tallis\u00e9, celui de droite est presque totalement clair, avec seulement une marge ant\u00e9rieure et post\u00e9rieure sombre.
Il se plait dans les sous-bois assez denses pr\u00e8s des ruisseaux ou rivi\u00e8res cach\u00e9es sous les arbres, dans l’ombre et se pose sur la mousse ou pend bout des feuilles.
Ci-dessous on note quelques caract\u00e9ristiques de l’esp\u00e8ce comme la fine ligne sombre sur la suture m\u00e9tapleurale ou les petites taches claires \u00e0 la partie post\u00e9rieure du thorax, pr\u00e8s de l’insertion des ailes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je n’ai aper\u00e7u qu’une seule femelle, tr\u00e8s ressemblante au m\u00e2le pour les d\u00e9tails donn\u00e9s plus haut, et encore celle-ci \u00e9tait pendu non pas ou bout d’une feuille mais \u00e0 l’abdomen d’un m\u00e2le; pas question de saisir les 2  \u00e0 la fois sur la m\u00eame photo, le thorax est tellement petit, l’abdomen tellement fin qu’en se reculant on ne voit plus gu\u00e8re les d\u00e9tails  \ud83d\ude42 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais c’est un gros avantage de voir les femelles en tandem car, isol\u00e9es, elles sont souvent tr\u00e8s difficiles, voire impossibles \u00e0 identifier au niveau de l’esp\u00e8ce.
Sur le site de Cuc Phong, toujours le 14 juin 2018, bien \u00e0 l’ombre et  au milieu d’un faible ruisseau nous avons pu assister \u00e0 un accouplement tr\u00e8s \u00e9tonnant, o\u00f9 la femelle s’est retrouv\u00e9e compl\u00e8tement \u00e0 l’envers, mais toujours cramponn\u00e9e \u00e0 l’abdomen du m\u00e2le…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfin une derni\u00e8re photo d’un m\u00e2le dans le m\u00eame lieu, un coup de chance… On peut apercevoir la complexit\u00e9 de ses appendices anaux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Protosticta\u00a0<\/strong>(Selys, 1885), du grec\u00a0protos<\/em>,\u00a0premier<\/em>\u00a0et de\u00a0sticta<\/em>, forme latinis\u00e9e du grec\u00a0stiktos<\/em>, pour\u00a0tatou\u00e9, marqu\u00e9<\/em>, bien qu’il ne faille certainement pas y chercher un sens particulier se rapportant \u00e0 une ou des marques sp\u00e9cifiques, mais plut\u00f4t l’appartenance \u00e0 un famille d’insectes d’apparence voisine : Platysticta, Drepanosticta, Isosticta, Ceylonosticta, Sinosticta, Sulcosticta, Telosticta, Yunnanosticta, tous membres des Platystictidae. Selys dans \u00ab\u00a0Programme d\u2019une revision des Agrionines<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb (4) dans lequel il cr\u00e9e ce nouveau genre, pr\u00e9cise qu’il est tr\u00e8s proche, mais sans doute ant\u00e9rieur (premier<\/em>\u00a0dans l’\u00e9volution) aux Platysticta, car on note \u00ab\u00a0l’absence de rudiment du secteur inf\u00e9rieur du triangle<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. Il est \u00e9vident que \u00ab\u00a0sticta\u00a0\u00bb s’est s\u00fbrement rapport\u00e9, \u00e0 l’origine, \u00e0 un d\u00e9tail de coloration particulier, pour un de ces genres, mais j’ignore lequel…
Satoi<\/strong> est un hommage \u00e0 Masataka Sat\u00f4 <\/strong>(1937\u20132006), un \u00e9minent entomologiste japonais, professeur \u00e0 l’universit\u00e9 de Nagoya et expert mondial des col\u00e9opt\u00e8res aquatiques qui collectait cependant bien d’autres insectes qu’il a partag\u00e9s entre autres avec Asahina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
