Indolestes tenuissimus (Lestidae) est un des 4 Indolestes d’Australie et il ne peut \u00eatre confondu qu’avec Indolestes insularis<\/a>, \u00e9galement bleu sur le thorax. Mais ce dernier ne montre qu’une ou 2 tr\u00e8s discr\u00e8tes marques grises sur la face lat\u00e9rale du thorax, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 notre sujet montre 2 virgules noires tr\u00e8s \u00e9videntes. Le Slender reedling<\/em>, son nom australien, comme on le voit ci-dessous, montre le m\u00eame type de dessin dorsal thoracique que Indolestes aleni<\/a> avec 2 protub\u00e9rances lat\u00e9rales alors que celui de Indolestes insularis est rectiligne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il mesure 47 mm, 38 pour l’abdomen, et seulement 23 mm pour l’aile post\u00e9rieure. Son abdomen est le plus long de ceux des Lestes australiens.
Il habite les marais et les mares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En Australie, il n’est pr\u00e9sent que sur la zone c\u00f4ti\u00e8re du Queensland, entre Townsville et le Cap York. On le trouve \u00e9galement en Nouvelle-Guin\u00e9e.

Je n’ai vu qu’une seule femelle isol\u00e9e, tr\u00e8s bri\u00e8vement, ci-dessous \u00e0 droite. J’avais profit\u00e9 d’une rencontre avec un tandem pour faire un gros plan d’une femelle rencontr\u00e9e en tandem puis en ponte, ne sachant pas si j’aurais l’occasion de la voir seule.
Elles pr\u00e9sentent le m\u00eame pattern thoracique et abdominal que les m\u00e2les, et leur ressemblent beaucoup, sous r\u00e9serve, bien s\u00fbr, de l’ovipositeur massif et d’un abdomen plus large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indolestes<\/strong> ; du latin\u00a0indus<\/em>,\u00a0indien<\/em>\u00a0+\u00a0lestes<\/em>\u00a0: les 3 esp\u00e8ces que Fraser a plac\u00e9es dans ce nouveau genre de Lestidae avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 collect\u00e9es en Inde. Lestes a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Leach (1815) et vient du mot grec \u03bb\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u03b7\u03c3 qui signifie voleur ou pirate, tr\u00e8s vraisemblablement en raison de la forme des appendices anaux qui \u00e9voque le coutelas courb\u00e9 des pirates (2).
Tenuissimus<\/strong> est le superlatif du latin –tenuis<\/em>, qui signifie, –mince<\/em>, fin<\/em>. Tillyard \u00e9crit \u00ab\u00a0Abdomen extremely long and thin<\/em> \u00a0\u00bb (\u00a0\u00bb Abdomen extr\u00eament long et fin\u00a0\u00bb) et \u00ab\u00a0It is easily distinguished from all other species of Lestes by its extremely long abdomen<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb (\u00a0\u00bb Il se distingue ais\u00e9ment de toutes les autres esp\u00e8ces de Lestes par son abdomen extr\u00eamement long\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
