Erythrodiplax solimaea est une raret\u00e9 tr\u00e8s peu photographi\u00e9e ; avant les donn\u00e9es de notre \u00e9quipe, on ne trouvait qu’une seule photo sur Inaturalist. Nous l’avons observ\u00e9 sur les rives d’un grand \u00e9tang, en for\u00eat, \u00e0 quelques kilom\u00e8tres de l’Amazone. 2 individus voletaient assez rapidement de perchoirs en perchoirs.
\u00c0 quelques dizaines de m\u00e8tres, nous avons eu la chance de trouver le tr\u00e8s rare Perithemis bella…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce sont 2 individus diff\u00e9rents qui sont figur\u00e9s sur les photos ci-dessus ; la coloration verte des yeux des sujets matures est vraiment \u00e9tonnante et peu fr\u00e9rquente parmi les Erythrodiplax.
Erythrodiplax solimaea a d’abord \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Ris (1) comme une sous-esp\u00e8ce de Erythrodipax ochracea, ce qui para\u00eet surprenant quand on conna\u00eet cette autre esp\u00e8ce<\/a> : l’\u00e9tendue de la coloration alaire sur les ailes ant\u00e9rieures est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rente, la coloration des pt\u00e9rostigmas, des yeux… Mais Ris a d\u00e9crit cette esp\u00e8ce sur un sujet de collection, sans doute mal pr\u00e9serv\u00e9 (d’ailleurs, il mentionne que la coloration de l’abdomen est alt\u00e9r\u00e9e).
Il mesure environ 35 mm, 22 pour l’abdomen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur le site de l’IUCN<\/a> sa distribution le limite aux zones de for\u00eat du P\u00e9rou, du Venezuela et du Br\u00e9sil. La seule donn\u00e9e pr\u00e9sente sur Inaturalist est en \u00c9quateur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erythrodiplax (2) (Brauer, 1868) du grec erythro<\/em>, signifiant rouge<\/em> et de diplax<\/em>. Diplax (1840) est un nom de genre donn\u00e9 par Charpentier, form\u00e9 par un pr\u00e9fixe signifiant deux<\/em> ou double <\/em> – et plax<\/em> qualifiant quelque chose de plat, en accord avec la forme de la partie post\u00e9rieure du pronotum pr\u00e9sentant 2 structures semi-circulaires.
Charpentier ignorait que Newman avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9crit ce genre sous le nom de Sympetrum (1833), et longtemps le genre Diplax est rest\u00e9 en usage ; aussi quand on a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 scinder ce genre, on a conserv\u00e9 le terme diplax<\/em> dans des noms compos\u00e9s.
Pourquoi avoir qualifi\u00e9 ce Diplax<\/em> de rouge<\/em> ? L’explication est pour moi assez confuse ; disons que Kirby a retenu Erythrodiplax corallina<\/em>, presque totalement rouge, comme l’esp\u00e8ce type du genre Erythrodiplax.
Pour le nom d’esp\u00e8ce, solimaea<\/em>, j’en reste au stade des suppositions ; il est possible qu’il se r\u00e9f\u00e8re \u00e0 la partie de l’Amazone, le rio Solimeo,\u00a0comprise entre la triple fronti\u00e8re Br\u00e9sil-Colombie-P\u00e9rou\u00a0et la ville de Manaus. Tef\u00e9 (autrefois Teff\u00e9), lieu de capture d’un des holotypes, est situ\u00e9 sur la rive sud du rio Solimeo<\/em>, \u00e0 595 km \u00e0 l’ouest de Manaus (cette supposition est confirm\u00e9e dans l’ouvrage de Heirich Fliedner consacr\u00e9 aux taxons nomm\u00e9s par Ris (3)).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
