Argia euphorbia, Coenagrionidae, fait partie de ces Dancers<\/em> (nom du genre Argia en anglais) aux ailes fum\u00e9es, un des 28 (!) du P\u00e9rou ; comme ceux aux yeux rouges, ils font partie des plus spectaculaires. Il est facile \u00e0 identifier parmi les cinq esp\u00e8ces que nous avons rencontr\u00e9es durant ce s\u00e9jour de prospection, c’est le seul \u00e0 associer ailes fum\u00e9es et coloration sur S8 et S9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comme le montrent les photos ci-dessus et ci-dessous, il est quelque peu variable, surtout en ce qui concerne la bande ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rale convexe vers le bas, qui est plus ou moins compl\u00e8te. Lorsqu’elle est compl\u00e8te, il est tr\u00e8s proche de A. fumigata, que je n’ai jamais rencontr\u00e9 et qui n’est pas pr\u00e9sent au P\u00e9rou. Il est aussi proche de A. oculata, qui ne serait pr\u00e9sent qu’au sud du P\u00e9rou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il mesure environ 33 mm pour un abdomen de 25.5.
Nous l’avons rencontr\u00e9 \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 ou sur les rives de petits ruisseaux, en for\u00eat humide, dans des zones bien \u00e9clair\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est une esp\u00e8ce rare pour laquelle il y a peu de donn\u00e9es, la distribution est donc forc\u00e9ment incompl\u00e8te. Le mieux est de faire confiance aux sp\u00e9cialistes mondiaux du genre que sont Garrison et Von Ellenreider : \u00ab\u00a0Pr\u00e9sent le long des franges ouest et sud-ouest du bouclier guyanais et du bassin amazonien s’\u00e9tendant \u00e0 l’ouest jusqu’\u00e0 l’\u00c9quateur et au P\u00e9rou et au sud dans l’\u00c9tat de Rond\u00f4nia, au Br\u00e9sil (2).\u00a0\u00bb

Dans la mythologie grecque, Argia<\/strong> (1) est le nom de plusieurs personnages f\u00e9minins de la mythologie grecque ; il ne faut sans doute pourtant pas chercher de lien et il semble plut\u00f4t que Rambur ait choisi un nom de genre aussi pr\u00e8s que possible de Agrion, dont la nervation, dit-il, est similaire : \u00ab\u00a0par le pt\u00e9rostigma et les deux nervules du premier espace costal, ils se rapprochent des Agrion\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Euphorbia<\/strong> est le nom donn\u00e9 par Fraser, qui avait d’abord trait\u00e9 cette esp\u00e8ce comme une sous-esp\u00e8ce de A. extranea. Euphorbe, dans la mythologie grecque, est un des plus illustres guerrier troyen, mais encore une fois, il n’y a vraisemblablement aucun rapport… Rien dans la description originale (3) ne permet de comprendre pourquoi il l’a nomm\u00e9 ainsi ; je n’ai vu mentionn\u00e9 nulle part une quelconque affinit\u00e9 de l’esp\u00e8ce (de la ponte par exemple) pour les euphorbes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Sur les photos de ces deux couples, les seules occasions o\u00f9 j’ai aper\u00e7u des femelles, on note leur variabilit\u00e9 ; comme tr\u00e8s souvent dans ce genre, les femelles se pr\u00e9sentent sous plusieurs formes, au moins une dite androchrome<\/em>, l’autre dite terne<\/em>.

Les 2 couples ont \u00e9t\u00e9 photographi\u00e9es sur le m\u00eame ruisseau, le 16\/08\/2023, pr\u00e8s de l’Amazon Research Center, pr\u00e8s de Chino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
