Nous avons rencontr\u00e9 Argyrothemis argentea \u00e0 deux reprises, non pas dans la zone inondable, mais sur la Terra firme (la terre ferme), zone qui n’est jamais sous les eaux. C’est une petite esp\u00e8ce, et Ris dans sa description originale, que l’on trouve dans le fascicule XII des \u00ab\u00a0Libellulines, Volume II<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb du Catalogue Syst\u00e9matique et Descriptif des collections zoologiques du baron Edmond de Selys de Longchamp<\/em> nous dit que son abdomen mesure 19 mm, soit environ 30 mm de longueur totale.
Le cheminement par la rivi\u00e8re (il n’y a pas d’autre fa\u00e7on de voyager) a \u00e9t\u00e9 rendu un peu difficile par le tr\u00e8s bas niveau des eaux… Le trac\u00e9 du jour est ici<\/a>, depuis notre h\u00e9bergement \u00e0 Tahuayo, jusqu’\u00e0 notre destination finale, \u00e0 droite du dernier rep\u00e8re rouge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est \u00e9videmment facile \u00e0 identifier, m\u00eame si sur certaines photos, quand on n’aper\u00e7oit pas son thorax (photo 4), il fait penser \u00e0 un Micrathyria. Mais la tache claire, argent\u00e9e, qu’il porte sur la face dorsale du thorax l\u00e8ve aussit\u00f4t le doute.
Comme en t\u00e9moignent les photos, nous l’avons rencontr\u00e9 en for\u00eat sombre, hors m\u00eame des rares trou\u00e9es de soleil, proche de zone mar\u00e9cageuse aliment\u00e9e par un ruisseau paresseux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sa distribution le place \u00e0 l’est de l’\u00c9quateur, au sud-est du Venezuela. Il n’y a pas de donn\u00e9es en Colombie, pour l’instant, mais il est \u00e0 l’est du P\u00e9rou, au Suriname, Guyana, Guyane fran\u00e7aise et dans une large partie nord du Br\u00e9sil (bassin de l’Amazone).

Noter sur la photo ci-dessous comme la base des ailes post\u00e9rieure est \u00e9troite. Remarquer aussi l’angulation entre l’abdomen et le thorax, spectaculaire sur la derni\u00e8re photo et qui n’est pas sans rappeler la posture des Tramea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Argyrothemis, form\u00e9 d’un mot issu du grec arguros<\/em> qui signifie argent<\/em> et de Themis<\/em>. Themis<\/em>, \u2013 d\u00e9esse grecque de l\u2019ordre et de la justice, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 de nombreuses fois depuis Hagen (1861), et Ris a suivi la mode en 1909 quand il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 ce genre. Le nom de la d\u00e9esse de l\u2019ordre est particuli\u00e8rement bien adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 la taxonomie, science qui vise \u00e0 d\u00e9crire et ordonner les familles, genres et esp\u00e8ces.
Argentea du latin argenteus<\/em> qui signifie d’argent<\/em> ou fait d’argent<\/em>, insiste comme la premi\u00e8re partie du nom de genre sur la tache thoracique dorsale. Pas de risque d’erreur, c’est un genre monosp\u00e9cifique (Fliedner, 2021).

En anglais, il est appel\u00e9 Silver-spotted skimmer, toujours pour son thorax argent\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
