Argia huanacina est un des 146 Argia pour l’instant connus sur le continent am\u00e9ricain. C’est dire si l’identification peut \u00eatre difficile. Heureusement<\/em>, nous n’avons rencontr\u00e9 que cinq de ces \u00ab\u00a0Dancers\u00a0\u00bb, leur nom de genre en anglais.
Pour \u00eatre un bon<\/em> odonatologue, il faudrait les identifier par leurs appendices anaux, encore que pour celui-ci, on les dit tr\u00e8s proches de ceux de A. Selysi ; par chance, ce dernier n’est pas pr\u00e9sent dans cette partie de l’Am\u00e9rique du Sud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous n’avons contact\u00e9 l’esp\u00e8ce qu’\u00e0 deux reprises, sur la Terre ferme, la zone de for\u00eat non inondable, qui offre une faune et une flore vraiment diff\u00e9rentes de ce que nous a montr\u00e9 le reste de notre s\u00e9jour. Il se tenait au-dessus ou tout pr\u00e8s de ruisseaux en for\u00eat, dans des zones bien \u00e9clair\u00e9es. Nous n’avons eu le droit qu’\u00e0 un seul m\u00e2le, mais plusieurs femelles.

Ci-contre, une tr\u00e8s mauvaise photo du biotope, qui rend la vie difficile aux appareils photos, m\u00e9lange de zones sombres et de zones ensoleill\u00e9es (nous sommes proches de l’\u00e9quateur). L’eau est teint\u00e9e par les mati\u00e8res en d\u00e9composition, mais presque cristalline par rapport \u00e0 celle de nos lodges, plus caf\u00e9 au lait<\/em>, puisqu’elle vient directement de la rivi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Les femelles sont assez faciles \u00e0 identifier par la forme de la tache triangulaire sur le pronotum et celle des taches sur les deux derniers segments. Il est toujours satisfaisant et rassurant de voir les femelles en tandem, on s’assure ainsi de leur identit\u00e9 !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

F\u00f6rster qui l’a d\u00e9crit dans Beitr\u00e4ge zu den Gattungen und Arten der Libellen<\/em> nous dit qu’il mesure 33 mm.
Sa distribution le limite \u00e0 l’est du P\u00e9rou et de l’\u00c9quateur, \u00e0 la Colombie, \u00e0 la Bolivie et au Br\u00e9sil. C’est une esp\u00e8ce rarement vue, qui n’a que cinq observations sur Inaturalist \u00e0 cette date, si on enl\u00e8ve les n\u00f4tres…

Dans la mythologie grecque,\u00a0Argia<\/strong>\u00a0(1) est le nom de plusieurs personnages f\u00e9minins ; il ne faut pourtant pas chercher de lien, et il semble plut\u00f4t que Rambur ait choisi un nom de genre aussi pr\u00e8s que possible de Agrion<\/em>, dont la nervation, dit-il, est similaire : \u00ab\u00a0par le pt\u00e9rostigma et les deux nervules du premier espace costal, ils se rapprochent des Agrion<\/em>\u201d.
Pour huanacina<\/em>, je n’ai pas trouv\u00e9 de piste, rien n’est mentionn\u00e9 dans la description de F\u00f6rster.
La recherche sur le Web est \u00ab\u00a0parasit\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb par… une sauce nomm\u00e9e huancaina<\/em> (anagramme tr\u00e8s proche du nom d’esp\u00e8ce, il suffit d’inverser deux lettres), qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0sauce de la ville de Huancayo\u00a0\u00bb, cit\u00e9 proche du Rio Madre de Dios, ou a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert l’holotype<\/a>… Je n’ose pas \u00e9crire qu’il est possible qu’une faute d’orthographe ait \u00e9t\u00e9 commise lors de la retranscription.

Les Am\u00e9ricains se contentent de l’appeler Huanacina dancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
