J’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9 Acanthagrion apicale en Colombie<\/a>, \u00e0 quelques centaines de kilom\u00e8tres de cette for\u00eat dense. Comme tous les Acanthagrion, son dernier segment abdominal semble avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 tranch\u00e9 de biais…
Selys (1876) qui l’a d\u00e9crit dans son Synopsis des Agrionines, 5\u1d49\u00a0L\u00e9gion, Agrion (Suite) nous dit qu’il mesure 27 mm pour l’abdomen, soit environ 33 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S’il est donc de la m\u00eame taille que son cousin A. ascendens<\/a>, il s’en diff\u00e9rencie par le fait que son 7\u1d49\u00a0segment abdominal ne porte qu’un infime anneau bleu sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 l’apex. Pour m\u00e9moire, voici les derniers segments d’Acanthagrion ascendens<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le 10\u00b0 segment est assez proche et voici la description de Selys : \u00ab\u00a010\u00b0 segment moiti\u00e9 plus court que le 9\u00b0 en dessous, tronqu\u00e9 et encore plus court en dessus, o\u00f9 il est compl\u00e8tement redress\u00e9 d\u00e8s la base pour former un bord post\u00e9rieur profond\u00e9ment \u00e9chancr\u00e9 en deux plaques presque pointues, s’\u00e9cartant en V et l\u00e9g\u00e8rement inclin\u00e9es en arri\u00e8re<\/em>.\u00a0\u00bb Ces plaques sont tronqu\u00e9es pour A. ascendens.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On trouve ici les appendices anaux<\/a> des esp\u00e8ces que nous avons rencontr\u00e9es au P\u00e9rou et on note la similitude des S10 pour A. ascendens et apicale. D’ailleurs, nous n’avons contact\u00e9 cette esp\u00e8ce qu’une seule fois, en for\u00eat, dans une zone mar\u00e9cageuse, sans doute travers\u00e9e par un ruisseau tr\u00e8s lent. Les Acanthagrion se trouvent plus souvent sur les eaux stagnantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acanthagrion<\/strong>\u00a0(Selys), du grec\u00a0akanthos<\/em>,\u00a0\u00e9pine<\/em>, et\u00a0agrion<\/em>, d\u00e9riv\u00e9 du Grec signifiant sauvage et qui veut sans doute dire \u00ab\u00a0vivant dans les champs\u00a0\u00bb. Acanthagrion se r\u00e9f\u00e8re \u00e0 une \u00e9pine ac\u00e9r\u00e9e sous le S8 des femelles ; Selys dans le \u00ab\u00a0Synopsis des Agrionines, l\u00e9gion 5\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9crit \u00ab\u00a0\u00c9pine vulvaire g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement aigu\u00eb\u00a0\u00bb. Il pr\u00e9cise \u00e9galement que cette caract\u00e9ristique est commune aux 8 sous-genres qu\u2019il cr\u00e9e sous le genre Agrion.
Apicale<\/strong>, du latin apex<\/em> qui signifie, extr\u00e9mit\u00e9<\/em> ou sommet<\/em>, se r\u00e9f\u00e8re certainement aux \u00ab\u00a0deux plaques pointues\u00a0\u00bb qui dominent le 10\u1d49\u00a0segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
