Nous avons rencontr\u00e9 deux fois ce que nous pensons \u00eatre Acanthagrion floridense, \u00e0 chaque fois au bord d’un lac, tr\u00e8s bri\u00e8vement. Il est tr\u00e8s proche de A. gracile<\/a>, au point que Fraser l’a d’abord d\u00e9crit comme une sous-esp\u00e8ce, le nommant Acanthagrion gracile floridense<\/em>.
Je ne suis pas parvenu \u00e0 atteindre \u00ab\u00a0Notes on Amazonian Odonata in the Leeds museum : Transactions of the Royal Entomological Society of London: 96 (2): 11-46<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb o\u00f9 Fraser d\u00e9crit l’esp\u00e8ce (mais mon ami Bertrand Piney, l’a fait pour moi, voir plus bas !).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je me suis donc rabattu sur la description par Justin W. Leonard de Acanthagrion peruvianum<\/em> (1977), qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnu ult\u00e9rieurement comme un synonyme junior de Acanthagrion floridense<\/em> : il a donc re-d\u00e9crit l’esp\u00e8ce floridense<\/em>, pensant avoir affaire \u00e0 une nouveaut\u00e9.
L’identification repose cette fois sur le 7\u00b0 segment abdominal : \u00ab\u00a0black of 7 forming an almost complete apical ring, but not quite attaining ventral margin of tergite, and interrupted by a blue, hour-glass-shaped spot on caudal fifth of mid-dorsal line<\/em>.\u00a0\u00bb \u00ab\u00a0noir du S7 formant presque un anneau noir complet, mais n’atteignant pas vraiment la marge ventrale du tergite, et interrompu, par une tache bleue en verre de montre dans le dernier 5\u00b0 de la ligne dorsale m\u00e9diane<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est le seul des quatre Acanthagrion que nous avons rencontr\u00e9s qui ne montre pas un fort prolongement vertical de son S10. Mais on retrouve, bien s\u00fbr, la caract\u00e9ristique du genre sous la forme d’un abdomen qui semble tranch\u00e9 de biais.

Acanthagrion floridense mesure environ 31 mm, avec un abdomen de 25 mm.
Son habitat le situe sur des eaux stagnantes ouvertes, en milieu forestier.
Il est largement distribu\u00e9 dans l’est de l’Am\u00e9rique du Sud ; est du Br\u00e9sil, Argentine, Bolivie, P\u00e9rou, \u00c9quateur et Uruguay.

Acanthagrion<\/strong>\u00a0(Selys), du grec\u00a0akanthos<\/em>,\u00a0\u00e9pine<\/em>, et\u00a0agrion<\/em>, d\u00e9riv\u00e9 du Grec signifiant sauvage et veut sans doute dire \u00ab\u00a0vivant dans les champs\u00a0\u00bb. Acanthagrion se r\u00e9f\u00e8re \u00e0 une \u00e9pine ac\u00e9r\u00e9e sous le S8 des femelles ; Selys dans le \u00ab\u00a0Synopsis des Agrionines, l\u00e9gion 5\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9crit \u00ab\u00a0\u00c9pine vulvaire g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement aigu\u00eb\u00a0\u00bb. Il pr\u00e9cise \u00e9galement que cette caract\u00e9ristique est commune au huit sous-genres qu\u2019il cr\u00e9e sous le genre Agrion.
Floridense<\/strong> -[ je n’ai malheureusement aucune id\u00e9e de l’origine de ce nom, qui \u00e9voque la Floride, \u00c9tat am\u00e9ricain qui se trouve bien loin de l’aire de cet Acanthagrion, suivi du suffixe ensis<\/em>, qui signifie originaire de <\/em>. N’ayant pas acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la description de Fraser, je ne sais pas s’il donne une indication de provenance du sujet qu’il d\u00e9crit ; il est arriv\u00e9 assez souvent que l’origine d’un sujet de collection soit erron\u00e9, son label inexploitable et qu’on l’attribue \u00e0 une r\u00e9gion g\u00e9ographique sans rapport avec son lieu de vie, avec parfois m\u00eame des erreurs de continent.]
Je remercie Bertand Piney gr\u00e2ce auquel j’ai eu acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la description de Fraser, qui mentionne tout simplement que l’holotype provient de Florida, dans le sud-est de la Colombie, pr\u00e8s de Cali… <\/p>\n\n\n\n
