Heteragrion inca fait partie d’un genre tr\u00e8s spectaculaire comportant actuellement 62 esp\u00e8ces, parfois tr\u00e8s difficiles \u00e0 s\u00e9parer, mal connues, avec des variations morphologiques et de colorations reconnues, mais tr\u00e8s mal document\u00e9es, comme en t\u00e9moigne la tr\u00e8s importante R\u00e9vision du genre (1) publi\u00e9e dans Zootaxa en octobre 2023, que m’a tr\u00e8s gentiment adress\u00e9e un des auteurs, Diogo Silvavilea.
Apr\u00e8s avoir fait partie des Megapodagrionidae, ils ont maintenant leur propre famille, les Heteragrionidae.
On les rencontre depuis le centre du Mexique jusqu’au sud du Br\u00e9sil et au nord-est de l’Argentine. Mais le groupe B, auquel appartient Heteragrion inca, se limite au Mexique, \u00e0 l’Am\u00e9rique Centrale et \u00e0 la r\u00e9gion des Andes. Ce groupe B est caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par des paraproctes (ex-cerques) d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s (vestigiaux pour le groupe A), courts, moyens ou longs, et des cerques (ex-cerco\u00efdes) simples, sans branche ou tubercule basal.
Ils font partie de ces zygopt\u00e8res qui se posent les ailes ouvertes (ils se nomment Flamboyant flatwings en am\u00e9ricain) et leur thorax pr\u00e9sente une teinte de vert que l’on rencontre rarement chez les odonates.
L’abdomen mesure 37 mm (Calvert (2)) ce qui lui donne une longueur totale de 44 mm, son aile post\u00e9rieure atteint 23 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous avons rencontr\u00e9 au moins une autre esp\u00e8ce, une qui n’a pas encore \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crite. Il est difficile de dire si nous en avons rencontr\u00e9 d’autres ; en effet, leur identification repose au minimum sur l’examen des appendices, ce qui n\u00e9cessite des photos rigoureusement pr\u00e9cises, dans une ambiance sombre de for\u00eat tr\u00e8s dense, comme on peut en juger ci-contre.

Ils se situaient autour de ruisseaux forestiers, dans un milieu mar\u00e9cageux.

Vu la difficult\u00e9 de leur identification, la r\u00e9partition de Heteragrion inca reste difficile \u00e0 pr\u00e9ciser : il a en tout cas \u00e9t\u00e9 rencontr\u00e9 dans les r\u00e9gions amazoniennes de Bolivie, du Br\u00e9sil (Acre et Rond\u00f4nia), de Colombie, d’\u00c9quateur et du P\u00e9rou.

La photo ci-dessous est un peu \u00e9tonnante, car ils se posent toujours l’abdomen pendant \u00e0 45\u00b0 ; mais ici, il vient de se poser, ou plut\u00f4t de se re-poser exactement \u00e0 l’endroit o\u00f9 je m’appr\u00eatais \u00e0 la photographier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selys d\u00e9crit le genre Heteragrion<\/strong> dans sa \u00ab\u00a0R\u00e9vision du Synopsis des Agrionines, premi\u00e8re partie, p 54\u00a0\u00bb mais il ne donne pas d’indication sur l’origine du nom. Ce genre vient \u00e0 la suite d’autres genres qu’il cr\u00e9e \u00e0 l’occasion, Megapodagrion et Heteropodagrion.
Il est construit \u00e0 partir du grec hetero<\/em> qui signifie autre<\/em>, et de agrion<\/em>, du grec\u00a0agrios<\/em>\u2013\u00a0sauvage<\/em>, vivant dans les champs. Il faut sans doute y voir tout simplement \u00ab\u00a0un autre agrion<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, en plus des deux pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents.
Inca<\/strong>, n’est pas non plus explicit\u00e9 par Calvert (2), mais celui-ci pr\u00e9cise que son sujet a \u00e9t\u00e9 pris au P\u00e9rou, patrie des Incas. Notons qu’il a \u00e9t\u00e9 captur\u00e9 \u00e0 Iquitos, tr\u00e8s pr\u00e8s de notre zone de prospection.
