J’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9 le magnifique petit Anatya guttata au Panama<\/a> et au Costa Rica<\/a>. Selon les auteurs, il mesure 35 \u00e0 43 mm.
Il est difficile \u00e0 confondre avec un autre odonate, si on associe ses yeux vert \u00e9meraude et son thorax bleu verniss\u00e9.
Noter les appendices anaux blancs, ac\u00e9r\u00e9s et fortement recourb\u00e9s vers le haut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est un habitant de la for\u00eat humide que l’on rencontre sur les mares et les parties calmes des rivi\u00e8res.
Il aime vivre \u00e0 l’ombre et certains sujets peuvent pr\u00e9senter de la mousse ou des algues sur les ailes<\/a> ; c’est sans doute aussi un indice qui permet de penser qu’ils ont une vie plus longue que la majeure partie des autres odonates du m\u00eame milieu (Dragonflies and Damselflies of Costa Rica, Dennis Paulson & William Haber).

Je ne sais pas ce qu’il est advenu \u00e0 ce deuxi\u00e8me sujet, son aile droite est curieusement tach\u00e9e ; il semble m\u00eame que la membrane alaire ait disparu sur un certain nombre de cellules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les femelles sont beaucoup plus ternes, mais montrent \u00e9galement des yeux magnifiques.
On rencontre, en principe, les femelles et les m\u00e2les immatures \u00e0 distance de l’eau, sur les entiers et les pistes foresti\u00e8res, parmi les hautes herbes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sa distribution g\u00e9ographique s’\u00e9tend \u00e0 travers l’Am\u00e9rique centrale et le nord de l’Am\u00e9rique du Sud, du Mexique \u00e0 la Bolivie, et au nord-est du Br\u00e9sil.

Erichson avait d\u00e9crit l’esp\u00e8ce sous le nom de Libellula guttata, Libellula \u00e9tant encore \u00e0 l’\u00e9poque un fourre-tout pour de nombreuses esp\u00e8ces de Libellulidae. Kirby, en 1889, a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre Anatya pour son esp\u00e8ce anomala<\/em>, qui s’av\u00e9rera plus tard \u00eatre notre guttata<\/em>.
Anatya<\/strong> (W. F. Kirby ma\u00eetrisait de nombreuses langues dont certaines langues mortes) vient probablement du sanskrit et signifie \u00ab\u00a0courb\u00e9, ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 courb\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb et se r\u00e9f\u00e9rerait aux appendices anaux. Lorsqu’il cr\u00e9e ce genre pour y placer l’esp\u00e8ce anomala<\/em> (=guttata<\/em>), il insiste longuement sur la singularit\u00e9 des appendices anaux du m\u00e2le : \u00ab\u00a0upper anal appendages of the male extremely anomalus…\u00a0\u00bb.
Guttata<\/strong>, en latin, signifie abandonn\u00e9<\/em>, et je n’ai aucune id\u00e9e de la raison du choix de Erichson malgr\u00e9 mes recherches (Erichson, W. F. (1848) Insecten. In: R.
