Uracis imbuta accepte sans doute parfois un environnement un peu diff\u00e9rent des autres esp\u00e8ces du genre, car nous l’avons rencontr\u00e9 en milieu ouvert et sur la Terra Firme (la \u00ab\u00a0terre ferme\u00a0\u00bb, zone jamais inond\u00e9e par le d\u00e9bordement de l’Amazone et de ses tributaires). Avec de nombreuses autres esp\u00e8ces nouvelles pour notre prospection, il squattait une flaque d’eau de 5m\u00b2, au milieu d’une \u00ab\u00a0prairie\u00a0\u00bb, \u00e0 50 m du Rio Blanco et \u00e0 une centaine de m\u00e8tres de la for\u00eat. Encore une fois, il d\u00e9montre comme sont souvent malvenus les noms vernaculaires, car les Anglo-Saxons l’appellent Common Woodskimmer ; nous n’avons eu que cette seule rencontre avec lui.
Au Panama<\/a> et au Costa Rica,<\/a> nous les avions observ\u00e9s sur des mares foresti\u00e8res.

Sa distribution g\u00e9ographique s’\u00e9tend du Mexique au nord-est de l’Argentine et \u00e0 l’ouest du Br\u00e9sil.

Il mesure 33 mm en moyenne.
Ses ailes sont tach\u00e9es \u00e0 leurs extr\u00e9mit\u00e9s de fa\u00e7on variable : le spot ambr\u00e9 peut \u00eatre absent (ce que je n’ai jamais vu) ou s’\u00e9tendre jusqu’\u00e0 la partie proximale du pt\u00e9rostigma.
L’abdomen et le thorax sont couverts d’une pruinosit\u00e9 bleu\u00e2tre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tach\u00e9es ou non, on peut facilement le confondre avec d’autres esp\u00e8ces du genre et seul l’examen de la nervation peut assurer une identification solide. Il faut s’assurer que les triangles des ailes ant\u00e9rieures et post\u00e9rieures soient travers\u00e9s d’une nervure, les supratriangles libres, qu’il y ait 3 \u00e0 5 cellules dans le subtriangle de l’aile ant\u00e9rieure et 1 \u00e0 3 nervures transverses dans l’espace cubital.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Uracis<\/strong>\u00a0du grec\u00a0oura<\/em>\u00a0pour\u00a0queue<\/em>\u00a0et de\u00a0akis<\/em>\u00a0signifiant\u00a0aiguille<\/em>. Ceci en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 leur tr\u00e8s longue plaque sous-g\u00e9nitale appel\u00e9e pseudo-ovipositeur (ici <\/a>pour U. siemensi). Rambur la d\u00e9crit justement lorsqu\u2019il cr\u00e9e le genre et tr\u00e8s en d\u00e9tail pour la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce qu\u2019il place dans le genre, nomm\u00e9e U.\u00a0quadra<\/em>\u00a0(notre futur U. imbuta). Voici ce qu\u2019il \u00e9crit \u00e0 propos de ce nouveau genre\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0bord vulvaire prolong\u00e9 en une longue pointe canalicul\u00e9e d\u00e9passant l\u2019anus, accompagn\u00e9 d\u2019un prolongement semblable du segment suivant, qui pr\u00e9sente une petite car\u00e8ne pour s\u2019engrener dedans.\u00a0\u00bb
