L’extension de la coloration alaire de Uracis fastigiata m’a toujours paru assez caract\u00e9ristique : depuis l’apex de l’aile, elle peut d\u00e9passer largement le pt\u00e9rostigma. Malheureusement, on lit dans Costa & Santos<\/em> (1997) que les ailes peuvent \u00eatre hyalines, ce que je n’ai jamais vu, ni au Panama<\/a>, ni au Costa Rica<\/a>.
Il faut donc recourir \u00e0 l’analyse de la nervation pour les identifier avec certitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les triangles et supratriangles des ailes ant\u00e9rieures et post\u00e9rieures sont barr\u00e9s d’une veine transverse, il y a trois rang\u00e9es de cellules dans le champ anal, 3 \u00e0 7 veines transverses dans l’espace cubital, 3 \u00e0 5 cellules dans le subtriangle de l’aile ant\u00e9rieure.
On trouvera i<\/a>ci<\/a> un rappel des espaces alaires sur un Uracis siemensi. \u00c9galement ici<\/a> un rappel des caract\u00e9ristiques de nervation des Uracis.
Ces crit\u00e8res, ainsi qu’une cl\u00e9, sont disponibles dans les travaux de Costa & Santos (1997).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il mesure environ 40 mm et prend le nom de Large Woodskimmer (U. imbuta 33 mm). Il habite les mares et marais forestiers.
Sa distribution s’\u00e9tend du Mexique au nord \u00e0 la Bolivie, au sud et \u00e0 l’ouest du Br\u00e9sil.

Nous n’avons rencontr\u00e9 les m\u00e2les qu’\u00e0 deux reprises. Deux rencontres aussi pour les femelles, dont celle-ci, tr\u00e8s jeune, que j’ai identifi\u00e9e en appliquant les m\u00eames crit\u00e8res de nervation. Noter le pattern du thorax, caract\u00e9ristique du genre Uracis. Une autre sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9 du genre est l’\u00e9troitesse de la base de l’aile post\u00e9rieure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La suivante est plus \u00e2g\u00e9e, sans doute mature, mais toujours avec des yeux bien rouges et bleus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Uracis<\/strong> du grec oura<\/em> pour queue<\/em> et de akis<\/em> signifiant aiguille<\/em>. Ceci en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la longue plaque sous-g\u00e9nitale de la femelle appel\u00e9 pseudo-ovipositeur. Rambur la d\u00e9crit lorsqu\u2019il cr\u00e9e le genre, et tr\u00e8s en d\u00e9tail, pour la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce qu\u2019il place dans le genre, nomm\u00e9e U. quadra<\/em> (futur U. imbuta). Voici ce qu\u2019il \u00e9crit \u00e0 propos de ce nouveau genre : \u00ab bord vulvaire prolong\u00e9 en une longue pointe canalicul\u00e9e d\u00e9passant l\u2019anus, accompagn\u00e9 d\u2019un prolongement semblable du segment suivant, qui pr\u00e9sente une petite car\u00e8ne pour s\u2019engrener dedans. \u00bb
Fastigiata<\/strong> du latin fastigo<\/em> – s’\u00e9lever en pointe<\/em>, se r\u00e9f\u00e8re probablement \u00e0 la m\u00eame plaque sous-g\u00e9nitale des femelles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
