J’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 eu la chance de rencontrer Orthemis attenuata, au Br\u00e9sil<\/a>, en 2015, mais sans jamais avoir de photos qui montraient correctement son thorax et les bandes thoraciques jaunes qui permettent son identification.
Si on ajoute son front m\u00e9tallique sombre aux reflets violac\u00e9s, sa bande ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rale jaune, la large bande jaune qui barre son thorax (sur l’\u00e9pim\u00e8re m\u00e9sothoracique<\/a>), celle plus large encore sur l’\u00e9pim\u00e8re m\u00e9tathoracique<\/a>, son abdomen filiforme apr\u00e8s sa dilatation en S2 et S3, il n’y a pas de doute possible. Noter qu’une fine ligne jaune parcourt la face dorsale de l’abdomen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le genre Orthemis, limit\u00e9 au Nouveau Monde comprend 24 esp\u00e8ces. 18 ont un abdomen tr\u00e8s fins, et appartiennent au \u00ab\u00a0groupe levis\u00a0\u00bb, Orthetrum levis<\/em> \u00e9tant le type<\/em> de ce groupe. Natalia von Ellenrieder a r\u00e9vis\u00e9 ce groupe en 2008 (1).

Quand on ne voit pas la face dorsale de l’abdomen, on peut le confondre avec O. cultriformis, tr\u00e8s ressemblant quand ils sont jeunes. Voici ce dernier au Panama<\/a> (o\u00f9 O. attenuata est absent).
Mais l’abdomen de O. cultriformis est rouge et son thorax se couvre d’un pruinosit\u00e9 bleut\u00e9e quand il prend de l’\u00e2ge.
Il est \u00e9galement proche de O. levis<\/a> et de O. concolor qui ne sont pas pr\u00e9sents au P\u00e9rou.

Il mesure 44 mm.
On le rencontre sur les rivi\u00e8res, ruisseaux et mares des zones bois\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sa distribution s’\u00e9tend de la Colombie, du Venezuela et du sud du Guyana au P\u00e9rou, Br\u00e9sil et Bolivie.

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orthemis<\/strong>, du grec ortho<\/em>, –droit<\/em> et de Themis, la d\u00e9esse de L\u2019Ordre et de la Justice, fr\u00e9quemment utilis\u00e9 pour nommer des Libellulidae, par imitation de ce que faisaient les anciens en utilisant des noms issus de la mythologie. On lit dans Hagen (1861) qui a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre :\u00a0\u00bbLe premier secteur du triangle rectiligne\u00a0\u00bb, une caract\u00e9ristique du genre.

Attenuata<\/strong>, du latin attenuatus<\/em> qui signifie – diminu\u00e9, att\u00e9nu\u00e9<\/em>. Quand on lit Schomburgk (2), on peut penser que cet \u00ab\u00a0att\u00e9nu\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb se rapporte \u00e0 la taille et \u00e0 la forme de l’abdomen: \u00ab\u00a0De forme similaire au pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent, mais l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus petit et l’abdomen encore plus fin.\u00a0\u00bb Le pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent, dans la liste de ses esp\u00e8ces est en effet Erythemis (Libellula) vesiculosa<\/a>, visuellement tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent et atteignant 60 \u00e0 65 mm.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
