Telebasis griffinii a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Ren\u00e9 Martin (1) sous le nom de Erithragrion griffinii, ce qui est assez curieux et sans doute un lapsus calami ou une erreur de transcription, car Selys avait cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre Erythragrion en 1876, et que dans le texte, juste au-dessus, Martin signale Erythragrion filiola (lui aussi devenu Telebasis). Le genre Erythragrion a d’ailleurs disparu…
Le rouge \u00e9voqu\u00e9 par le pr\u00e9fixe \u00ab\u00a0erythr<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb est cependant bien pr\u00e9sent sur l’abdomen de ce petit Coenagrionidae.

Calvert (1902) (3) a mesur\u00e9 l’abdomen du m\u00e2le \u00e0 23 mm, un peu plus petit que celui de Martin qui atteignait 25 mm ; ils mesurent au total presque 31 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il fait partie du groupe \u00ab\u00a0digiticollis\u00a0\u00bb et lui ressemble beaucoup (il y a au moins 50 Telebasis !). Ils pr\u00e9sentent, en th\u00e9orie, tous les deux cette virgule sur le thorax, mais la coloration m\u00e9tallique de la partie sup\u00e9rieure du thorax est moins \u00e9tendue pour T. griffinii. Malheureusement, je suppose que ces motifs thoraciques sont variables, car mes photos de T. digiticollis<\/a> faites au Panama et valid\u00e9es par Dennis Paulson, ne sont ne montrent pas ce dessin.
Pour ajouter \u00e0 la difficult\u00e9 d’identification, les appendices anaux sont vraiment tr\u00e8s proches (2).


Ce dessin est issu de \u00ab\u00a0A synopsis of the genus Telebasis (Odonata: Coenagrionidae), R. W. Garrison <\/em>(2)\u00a0\u00bb, un ouvrage comme toujours, extr\u00eamement d\u00e9taill\u00e9 et pr\u00e9cis.

C’est une esp\u00e8ce r\u00e9put\u00e9e assez commune sur les mares ou les petits lacs comme sur celui o\u00f9 nous l’avons rencontr\u00e9. Mais commune ou non, nous ne l’avons aper\u00e7ue qu’une seule fois.
Sa distribution s’\u00e9tend du sud du Panama au nord de l’Argentine, et \u00e9vitant le centre du bassin amazonien, on le retrouve au Br\u00e9sil autour de Rio de Janeiro et de S\u00e3o Paulo.

Telebasis<\/strong>\u00a0(4), des mots grecs\u00a0tele<\/em>, \u2013loin<\/em>\u00a0et\u00a0basis<\/em>, \u2013\u00a0base<\/em>\u00a0et refl\u00e8te la longue p\u00e9tiolation de l\u2019aile.
Griffinii<\/strong> est tout simplement un hommage au Dr. Achille Griffini, zoologiste italien, comme le pr\u00e9cise lui-m\u00eame Martin dans sa description (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
