Perilestes sp. est un genre rarement observ\u00e9. Celui-ci est venu se poser sur notre pirogue alors que nous quittions l’Amazon Research Center, sur la rivi\u00e8re Tahuayo. C’est sans doute la raison pour laquelle aucune de mes photos n’est correctement cadr\u00e9e…

On remarque tout de m\u00eame les ailes tr\u00e8s courtes par rapport \u00e0 un abdomen extr\u00eamement long, le thorax minuscule. Et l’ovipositeur massif, globuleux, une des caract\u00e9ristiques du genre.
C’est bien s\u00fbr un sujet quasi \u00e9mergent ; je ne sais pas pourquoi il a \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9 sur place comme Perilestes fragilis ; c’est sans doute le seul connu ou enregistr\u00e9 dans cette zone, mais mes photos ne permettent pas de l’identifier et de le s\u00e9parer des 8 autres esp\u00e8ces qui figurent sur la World Odonata List<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’identification de la famille des Perilestidae n\u00e9cessite de voir le quadrangle, une cellule quandrangulaire de la base de l’aile, qui, pour cette famille, touche par son apex le bord post\u00e9rieur de l’aile.
Les Perilestes se distinguent ensuite des Perissolestes par le fait que la veine intercalaire IR1 se d\u00e9tache sous, ou apr\u00e8s le pt\u00e9rostigma (une cellule ou plusieurs cellules avant le pt\u00e9rostigma pour les Perissolestes). Le fait que les 4 ailes soient superpos\u00e9es ne facilite pas l’analyse…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les adultes Perilestes sont sombres et ternes et passent facilement inaper\u00e7us en for\u00eat, il y a donc un potentiel \u00e9lev\u00e9 pour de nouvelles esp\u00e8ces. Leur taille oscille entre 48 et 54 mm.
Leurs larves vivent dans les ruisseaux forestiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perilestes<\/strong> (Hagen in Selys, 1862) du grec peri<\/em>, –autour de<\/em> et de lestes pour signifier la proximit\u00e9 de ce genre avec les Lestes.
Lestes a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Leach (1815) et vient du mot grec \u03bb\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u03b7\u03c3 qui signifie voleur ou pirate, tr\u00e8s vraisemblablement en raison de la forme des appendices anaux qui \u00e9voque le coutelas courb\u00e9 des pirates.
Et non du fait de leur agilit\u00e9, du fait qu\u2019ils soient lestes, comme j\u2019avais essay\u00e9 de le d\u00e9montrer\u00a0ici<\/a>\u00a0(sans savoir d\u2019ailleurs que c\u2019\u00e9tait la th\u00e9orie que d\u00e9fendait Paul Henri Robert dans ses \u00ab\u00a0Libellules\u00a0\u00bb).
Il est tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressant de lire \u00e0 ce sujet l\u2019analyse, sans doute d\u00e9finitive, faite par Matti H\u00e4m\u00e4l\u00e4inen & Heinrich Fliedner (3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
