Neoneura denticulata, Protoneuridae, fait partie des 29 (23 en 1999) esp\u00e8ces du genre et quand je l’ai rencontr\u00e9e, j’ai bien dout\u00e9 de pouvoir l’identifier. Heureusement, son pattern thoracique dorsale tr\u00e8s singulier, form\u00e9 de petits traits noirs plac\u00e9s au hasard<\/em>, ne semble appartenir qu’\u00e0 deux esp\u00e8ces : Neoneura rubriventris<\/a> et denticulata.
Par chance, la r\u00e9vision du genre que fait R. W. Garrison (1), montre le pronotum des deux esp\u00e8ces et il mentionne que celui de Neoneura denticulata est vraiment particulier : \u00ab\u00a0the broadly expansive, diverging lateral lobes (Fig. 25) are unique.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On reconna\u00eet donc facilement le pronotum de P. denticulata, auquel il manque la protrusion centrale de celui de sa cousine.

Noter la forme et le d\u00e9cor \u00e9tonnant de ses taches postoculaires sur cette photo tr\u00e8s agrandie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je ne peux rien dire du comportement de cette esp\u00e8ce, l’ayant observ\u00e9e exactement une minute… Garrison rel\u00e8ve que les m\u00e2les du genre sont tr\u00e8s souvent en vol, en vol plus ou moins stationnaire \u00e0 ras de l’eau et de ce fait difficiles \u00e0 collecter ; c’est que nous avions mieux constat\u00e9 pour N. rubriventris<\/a> et dont j’avais pu tirer parti pour N. confundens<\/a> en Colombie voisine.
Nous l’avons photographi\u00e9e sur la Terra Firme (zone de la for\u00eat jamais inond\u00e9e) \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 d’une zone humide travers\u00e9e par un ruisseau tr\u00e8s lent, en compagnie d’Argia huanacina et d’Amazoneura ephippigera.

Le m\u00e2le mesure 25 mm pour l’abdomen selon Williamson (2), soit environ 32 mm pour l’insecte entier.

On rencontre cette esp\u00e8ce au Venezuela, au P\u00e9rou, en \u00c9quateur, au Guyana, au Suriname et au Br\u00e9sil.

Etymologie<\/strong>
Neoneura<\/span> du grec\u00a0neo<\/em>\u00a0pour\u00a0nouveau<\/em>\u00a0et de la forme latinis\u00e9e du grec\u00a0neuron<\/em>, signifiant\u00a0nerf, tendon, veine<\/em>. Selys cr\u00e9e ce genre comme un sous-genre de Protoneura et semble trouver la preuve dans la nervation, qu\u2019il est plus historiquement plus r\u00e9cent, sans apporter d\u2019explication (ou tout simplement que c’est un nouveau genre proche du genre protoneura ?) (3).
Denticulata<\/span> est expliqu\u00e9 par Williamson lorsqu’il d\u00e9crit l’esp\u00e8ce : \u00ab\u00a0The specific name refers to the two minute teeth on the lower branch of the superior appendage\u00a0\u00bb – Le nom d’esp\u00e8ce se r\u00e9f\u00e8re aux deux minuscules dents sur la branche basse de l’appendice [anal] sup\u00e9rieur.
Les appendices anaux de ce genre sont en effet tr\u00e8s complexes et difficiles \u00e0 analyser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
