Philogenia sp. m\u00e2le, P\u00e9rou, Terra Firme, 4\u00b021’14.6″S 73\u00b010’43.7″W, 22\/08\/2023<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Philogenia sp. appartient \u00e0 un genre que je n’ai rencontr\u00e9 qu’une seule fois, au Costa Rica<\/a>, sous la forme d’une femelle \u00e9mergente impossible \u00e0 identifier \u00e0 l’esp\u00e8ce. Il comprend actuellement 39 esp\u00e8ces (27 en 1987) dont une d\u00e9crite encore en 2023. Ils sont arbitrairement divis\u00e9s en six groupes et sont identifi\u00e9s par leurs appendices anaux complexes.
Si j’ai fait quelques mauvaises photos des appendices anaux, elles ne sont certainement pas suffisantes pour l’identifier, d’autant qu’il s’agirait peut-\u00eatre d’une nouvelle esp\u00e8ce, connue, mais non encore d\u00e9crite.

Ils appartenaient \u00e0 la famille des Megapodagrionidae mais ont maintenant leur propre famille, Philogeniidae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le genre a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit pas Selys en 1862, dans son Synopsis des Agrionines, 3eme L\u00e9gion Podagrion.
Ils sont singuliers par leurs pt\u00e9rostigmas qui s’\u00e9tendent sur au moins cinq cellules et par le fait que, bien que zygopt\u00e8res, ils se posent avec les ailes ouvertes. Ils prennent d’ailleurs le nom de Flatwing en anglais. Comme leurs derniers segments sont couverts de pruine, ils peuvent \u00eatre confondus avec des Lestidae, mais leurs yeux sont marron et ils se posent souvent \u00e0 l’horizontale.

Ils mesurent environ 50 \u00e0 55 mm. Leur habitat est la for\u00eat o\u00f9 ils se perchent pr\u00e8s du sol, et se reproduisent vraisemblablement sur les petits et moyens ruisseaux. Nous \u00e9tions alors sur la Terra Firme<\/em> (terre ferme<\/em>), zone de la for\u00eat qui n’est jamais inond\u00e9e par les crues de l’Amazone et de ses affluents.

On les rencontre du Honduras \u00e0 la Bolivie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’\u00e9tymologie<\/strong> du genre Philogenia est \u00e9tonnante. Du grec philo<\/em>, pour aimer<\/em> et genus<\/em> pour genre<\/em> et par extension famille, comme on va le voir. En effet, dans Calvert (1931) (2), on lit dans une note en bas de page : \u00a0\u00bb Le Dr Ris, \u00e0 l’occasion de ma r\u00e9cente visite (ao\u00fbt 1929), m’a dit que par un indice que le baron de Selys a laiss\u00e9 \u00e9chapper, il a eu l’impression que le nom de genre Philogenia faisait allusion \u00e0 son amour pour sa famille vivante, Palaemnema \u00e0 la pieuse m\u00e9moire de ses anc\u00eatres.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n
