Coeliccia loogali, Platycnemididae, est un des 5 Coeliccia que nous avons contact\u00e9 en Tha\u00eflande, un des 80 que comprend ce genre tr\u00e8s riche. De nombreuses esp\u00e8ces ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crites ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, comme C. curua<\/a> ou C. pulchella<\/a> en 2020. Et m\u00eame si le genre est tr\u00e8s riche, l’identification n’est pas trop difficile, car ils diff\u00e8rent, pour ceux que j’ai rencontr\u00e9s, en coloration ou\/et en motifs sur le thorax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coeliccia loogali m\u00e2le se reconna\u00eet par son abdomen compl\u00e8tement sombre dorsalement, la partie inf\u00e9rieure des yeux et du thorax bleu ciel et sa bande ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rale \u00e9galement bleu ciel, en virgule, plus ou moins longue. Noter le petit trait des taches postoculaires, tr\u00e8s post\u00e9rieures, caract\u00e9ristiques du genre.
Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Laidlaw (1) qui pr\u00e9cise que l’abdomen du m\u00e2le atteint 43 mm (41 \u00e0 46 mm pour Asahina (2)) et son aile post\u00e9rieure 28 mm, il atteint donc une longueur totale d’environ 51 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comme fr\u00e9quemment, les m\u00e2les immatures arborent les couleurs des femelles et sont tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rents des m\u00e2les matures. Il serait vraiment int\u00e9ressant de trouver des sujets portant les couleurs interm\u00e9diaires ! Mais ces phases transitionnelles sont sans doute tr\u00e8s courtes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ils sont apparemment localement communs, c’est en tout cas ce que nous avons observ\u00e9 au long de cette rivi\u00e8re foresti\u00e8re, avec un courant assez rapide, qui est utilis\u00e9e pour alimenter une station hydro\u00e9lectrique et fourni de nombreux captages pour l’irrigation des cultures mara\u00eech\u00e8res ; nous sommes en effet \u00e0 1300 m d’altitude et la chaleur est nettement moins \u00e9lev\u00e9e que dans la plaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous les avons trouv\u00e9s dans l’ombre, pos\u00e9s sur la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, entre 50 cm et 2 m\u00e8tres, \u00e0 quelques m\u00e8tres de la rivi\u00e8re.

Il partageait cet environnement avec un nombre important de Megalestes kurahashii, un spectaculaire Lestidae qui m\u00e9rite amplement son qualificatif de Mega. Nous y avons aussi trouv\u00e9 notre premier Mnais andersoni, qui s’av\u00e9rera commun plus haut sur la rivi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Les femelles matures<\/em> ont \u00e9galement un abdomen noir, mais portent un motif clair typique sur les derniers segments. Leur bande ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rale jaune est plus longue que celle des m\u00e2les.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais ce motif sur les derniers segments n’appara\u00eet qu’au cours de la maturation, car comme on le voit ci-dessous, il est absent pour les sujets \u00e9mergents ou les immatures, comme illustr\u00e9 sur les photos ci-dessous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/span><\/strong>
Selys a d\u00e9crit la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce du genre en 1863 sous le nom pr\u00e9occup\u00e9 de Trichocnemis (col\u00e9opt\u00e8re longicorne) et c\u2019est Kirby qui a rectifi\u00e9 et cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre Coeliccia<\/strong> en 1890. Ce nom de genre, inexpliqu\u00e9 par l\u2019auteur, \u00e0 ma connaissance, vient peut-\u00eatre du latin coelum<\/em> \u00a0(ou \u00a0caelum<\/em> )<\/strong>, qui signifie \u00a0\u00ab\u00a0ciel<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0 ou \u00ab\u00a0c\u00e9leste <\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, et d\u2019un suffixe ou simple terminaison choisie pour l\u2019esth\u00e9tique ou la phon\u00e9tique. En effet, la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce d\u00e9crite par Selys, Trichocnemis membranipes, est bleu-ciel<\/em>, pour toutes ses parties non noires.
Loogali<\/strong> est expliqu\u00e9 par Laidlaw et vient de la langue Birmane : \u00ab\u00a0The word loogali is I understand Burmese for a lad or youth. (Le mot loogali<\/i> est, d’apr\u00e8s ce que je comprends, le terme birman pour un jeune homme ou un gar\u00e7on.)<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, –lu<\/em> pour homme<\/em>, personne et –gale<\/em> signifiant petit<\/em>. Laidlaw ne conna\u00eet pas le Birman mais cette d\u00e9couverte est en fait celle de Fraser, ce que ne manque pas de rappeler Laidlaw en pr\u00e9cisant : \u00ab\u00a0(Fraser Mss.)\u00a0\u00bb soit \u00ab\u00a0manuscrits de Fraser\u00a0\u00bb.\u00a0
<\/em>Fraser, lui, ma\u00eetrisait les bases du Birman et il a voulu sans doute lui donner un nom local sympathique (le sens de lad<\/em> est souvent, en anglais, charg\u00e9 d’affection), comme \u00ab\u00a0petit page\u00a0\u00bb.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
