Coeliccia poungyi est un Platycnemididae que j’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 bri\u00e8vement rencontr\u00e9 au Laos<\/a> il y a 14 ans. Il fait partie du genre le plus important de cette famille avec 80 membres, le plus grand nombre d’esp\u00e8ces se rencontrant au Vietnam.
Il est assez facile \u00e0 identifier avec ses tr\u00e8s larges taches bleues sur la face dorsale du thorax et ses segments 10, 9 et l’apex du 8\u00b0 jaunes. L’appartenance au genre peut pratiquement \u00eatre d\u00e9duite par la forme et l’emplacement des taches postoculaires : elles sont fines, un simple trait, parfois l\u00e9g\u00e8rement cun\u00e9iformes et plac\u00e9es tr\u00e8s en arri\u00e8re de la t\u00eate.

Je ne sais pas pourquoi ceux que j’ai vus en Tha\u00eflande ont tous adopt\u00e9s le format \u00ab\u00a0portrait\u00a0\u00bb en pendant \u00e0 une feuille ; ce n’est pas forc\u00e9ment l’attitude des Coeliccia et celui que j’avais photographi\u00e9 au Laos \u00e9tait sans doute plus conscient que nos \u00e9crans d’ordinateurs sont faits pour le format \u00ab\u00a0paysage\u00a0\u00bb \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coeliccia poungyi a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Fraser dans son monumental ouvrage (1) sur les odonates de l’Inde, Birmanie<\/em> (2) et Ceylan <\/em>(3).<\/em> Il indique que l’abdomen des m\u00e2les mesure 40 \u00e0 43 mm, la longueur totale de l’insecte atteint donc environ 48 mm.
Nous les avons rencontr\u00e9s dans la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation des rives de la rivi\u00e8re Mae Sa, apr\u00e8s une de ses chutes.

Nous avons \u00e9galement contact\u00e9 des m\u00e2les immatures qui ressemblent beaucoup aux m\u00e2les Coeliccia chromothorax matures pour le motif thoracique jaune. Ils diff\u00e8rent par la coloration des derniers segments, C. chromothorax ne portant de jaune que sur le S et une faible partie du S9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je suis surpris de constater sur le thorax jaune ces bandes plus sombres ; je ne sais pas ce qu’elles signifient, n’ayant jamais vu de sujets tr\u00e8s jeunes. Le changement de couleur, du jaune au bleu, est vraiment surprenant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous n’avons pas vu de femelles isol\u00e9es et il est toujours int\u00e9ressant de rencontrer des tandems qui permettent d’\u00eatre certain de leur apparence, car les femelles sont souvent difficiles \u00e0 identifier.

L’esp\u00e8ce est connue au Myanmar, au Laos, dans le nord de la Tha\u00eflande, au Vietnam et au Yunnan, dans le sud de la Chine.

\u00c9tymologie<\/span>
Selys a d\u00e9crit la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce du genre en 1863 sous le nom pr\u00e9occup\u00e9 de Trichocnemis (col\u00e9opt\u00e8re longicorne) et c\u2019est Kirby qui a rectifi\u00e9 et cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre Coeliccia<\/strong>\u00a0en 1890. Ce nom de genre, inexpliqu\u00e9 par l’auteur \u00e0 ma connaissance, vient peut-\u00eatre du latin coelum\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> (ou \u00ab\u00a0caelum\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>), qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0ciel<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0c\u00e9leste<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, et d’un suffixe ou simple terminaison choisie pour l’esth\u00e9tique ou la phon\u00e9tique. En effet, la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce d\u00e9crite par Selys, Trichocnemis membranipes, est bleu-ciel<\/em>, pour toutes ses parties non noires.
Fraser ne donne aucune indication pour le choix de poungyi<\/em>. En birman, \u00ab\u00a0poungyi\u00a0\u00bb (\u1015\u102f\u100a\u102e)<\/strong> fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 un moine bouddhiste, souvent un moine v\u00e9n\u00e9rable ou respect\u00e9. Fraser a probablement voulu rendre hommage \u00e0 une personnalit\u00e9 locale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
