C’est vraiment une surprise ce matin du 2 juin de d\u00e9couvrir deux Microgomphus jurzitzai (Gomphidae), gentiment pos\u00e9s sur des feuilles \u00e0 bonne hauteur, juste au bord de la Klang River, sous le parking qui permet d’acc\u00e9der aux chutes de Siriphum. M\u00eame si nous avons eu la chance de trouver juste avant des esp\u00e8ces nouvelles (pour le tour), la matin\u00e9e, souvent sous la bruine, s’est av\u00e9r\u00e9e un peu d\u00e9cevante. Et deux Microgomphus d’un coup, cela vous remonte le moral !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous avons eu du mal \u00e0 l’identifier, m\u00eame revenus dans nos pays respectifs : c’est Noppadon Makbun, un entomologiste tha\u00eflandais sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans les odonates, qui m’a donn\u00e9 son nom, Microgomphus jurzitzai, avec une certaine prudence, car l’esp\u00e8ce n’est pas encore bien connue en Tha\u00eflande bien qu’elle paraisse sur certaines listes<\/a>. Il conna\u00eet bien le genre, parce qu’il a d\u00e9crit Microgomphus farrelli (1) (qui met d’ailleurs \u00e0 l’honneur Dennis Farrell, un amateur odonatophile \u00e9clair\u00e9 qui g\u00e8re un site de qualit\u00e9 <\/a>sur les odonates de Tha\u00eflande).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai d’ailleurs d’abord cru que c’\u00e9tait cette esp\u00e8ce (M. farrelli), mais la branche interne des cerques est trop longue, d\u00e9passant nettement la branche externe et la face est aussi diff\u00e9rente. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’avais aussi compar\u00e9 avec les 2 autres Microgomphus pr\u00e9sents en Tha\u00eflande, mais ce n’est ni M. svihleri ni M. chelifer, ni m\u00eame M. alani qui serait peut-\u00eatre pr\u00e9sent dans le nord de la Tha\u00eflande. Et j’avais \u00e9crit \u00e0 mes compagnons de voyage que c’\u00e9tait soit une nouvelle esp\u00e8ce pour la Tha\u00eflande, soit une nouvelle esp\u00e8ce tout court<\/em>. L’intervention de Noppadon Makbun a donc \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9cisive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce Microgomphus jurzitzai mesure au total 42.5 mm, l’abdomen 31.3 mm et l’aile post\u00e9rieure 26.1 mm.
Nous les avons donc rencontr\u00e9s sur la rive arbor\u00e9e d’une rivi\u00e8re de montagne, en limite de for\u00eat \u00e0 environ 1450 m d’altitude.

L’IUCN<\/a> n’est pas \u00e0 jour concernant cette esp\u00e8ce et la limite au sud du Vietnam. Mais si elle est pr\u00e9sente en Tha\u00eflande, elle est certainement pr\u00e9sente au Cambodge et vraisemblablement au Los.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/span>
Microgomphu<\/strong>s, du grec mikros<\/em>, petit,<\/em> et de gomphus. Gomphus<\/em>\u00a0vient d\u2019un mot grec qui signifie\u00a0cheville<\/em>\u00a0ou\u00a0boulon<\/em>, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la forme de l\u2019abdomen (de la plupart des esp\u00e8ces), qui ressemble, par sa dilatation terminale, \u00e0 une\u00a0cheville pour assembler les bateaux<\/em>.
Jurzitzai<\/strong> : Karube (2) indique qu’il d\u00e9die cette esp\u00e8ce au Dr Gerhard Jurzitza : \u00ab\u00a0Dedicated to Professor Dr Gerhard JURZITZA, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.\u00a0\u00bb
Le Dr Jurzitza est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme le doyen de l’odonatologie allemande (3). Un de ses ouvrages (4), en fran\u00e7ais, semble oubli\u00e9, en France ; il ne manque pourtant pas d’int\u00e9r\u00eat pour son texte accompagn\u00e9 de photos, ses cl\u00e9s (des larves) et son format de poche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
