C’est en quittant la Mae Ya River, en dessous de ses chutes, que nous avons rencontr\u00e9 ce tr\u00e8s jeune Burmagomphus divaricatus. C’est un des sept Burmagomphus de Tha\u00eflande et malheureusement, le seul que nous ayons observ\u00e9.
On les identifie par la forme de leurs appendices anaux, mais ils portent \u00e9galement un motif particulier sur le thorax que Williamson qui a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre en 1907 d\u00e9crit ainsi : \u00ab\u00a0In the thoracic pattern, Burmagomphus is unique among
Gomphinae, so far as known to me, in having the dorsal stripes united below on either side with the antehumeral stripes, the upper [colored<\/em> ] end of the reduced antehumerals represented by a rounded spot – Pour son motif thoracique Burmagomphus est unique parmi les Gomphinae, autant que je sache, ayant les bandes dorsales unies en dessous de chaque c\u00f4t\u00e9 avec les bandes ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rales, l’extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 sup\u00e9rieure [color\u00e9e] des bandes ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rales r\u00e9duites repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par une tache arrondie\u00a0\u00bb.

C’est pr\u00e8s du pont que l’on devine au fond la photo, pos\u00e9 assez haut sur la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation de la berge, que nous l’avons d\u00e9couvert, alors qu’il commen\u00e7ait \u00e0 pleuvoir. Ce sont bien s\u00fbr des esp\u00e8ces qui vivent en rivi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malgr\u00e9 ce d\u00e9tail de motif thoracique qui ne permet que d’acc\u00e9der prudemment au genre et que l’on retrouve par exemple sur ce B. vermicularis<\/a> au Vietnam, il faut v\u00e9rifier la conformit\u00e9 des appendices anaux. Voici le dessin de Lieftinck, 1963 (1) que l’on peut comparer avec un tr\u00e8s fort agrandissement du seul angle de photo que j’ai pu r\u00e9aliser :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je suis tr\u00e8s surpris de la petite taille que lui donne Lieftinck, 27 mm pour l’abdomen, ce qui fait environ 37 mm pour l’insecte au total.
Selon l’IUCN<\/a>, l’esp\u00e8ce se rencontre en Chine du Sud (Yunnan) au Vietnam, en Tha\u00eflande, au Laos et au Cambodge, en Malaisie p\u00e9ninsulaire et \u00e0 Singapour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Burmagomphus<\/figure>
\n

Burmagomphus est form\u00e9 de Burma<\/em>, pour Birmanie<\/em> souvent appel\u00e9 Myanmar<\/em> et de gomphus<\/em> qui vient d\u2019un mot grec qui signifie cheville<\/em> ou boulon, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la forme de l\u2019abdomen (de la plupart des esp\u00e8ces), qui ressemble \u00e0 une cheville pour assembler les bateaux<\/em>. En effet, l’esp\u00e8ce type, qui a servi \u00e0 la description du genre cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Lieftinck, est Gomphus vermicularis<\/em>, d\u00e9crite par Martin, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un individu qu’on lui avait adress\u00e9 de Birmanie.
Divaricatus, du latin divarico<\/em>, \u00e9taler, qui a donn\u00e9 en fran\u00e7ais le mot divariqu\u00e9<\/em>, qui signifie fourchu, \u00e9cart\u00e9<\/em>, et se rapporte bien \u00e9videmment aux appendices anaux spectaculairement divergents.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
