C’est en dessous la chute d’eau de Mon Tha Than<\/a>, sur un petit barrage dans la for\u00eat dense, que nous avons attendu un bon moment que cet Asiagomphus xanthenatus veuille bien se poser le temps de quelques photos. Il a pris son temps et \u00e0 chaque fois qu’il s’est pos\u00e9, cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s bref…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est rare et tr\u00e8s variable ; en effet, ses motifs thoraciques sont parfois trompeurs. D’ailleurs, Williamson (1) \u00e9crit \u00e0 propos des sujets qu’il a en sa possession au moment de le d\u00e9crire comme Gomphus xanthenatus : \u00ab\u00a0The small series shows an extent of variation in color remarkable in a species of Gomphus. This is most evident on the sides of the thorax and on abdominal segments 8-10\u00a0\u00bb.
Ici, la face lat\u00e9rale du thorax est sombre et ces zones sombres sont surmont\u00e9es d’un point jaune, alors que de temps en temps, c’est une ligne jaune presque compl\u00e8te qui se termine ainsi. Mais tous les interm\u00e9diaires semblent possibles. Sur iNaturalist, une photo<\/a> montre ces lignes compl\u00e8tes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable de mieux voir les appendices anaux, car le genre Asiagomphus compte tout de m\u00eame 28 esp\u00e8ces. \u00ab\u00a0Heureusement\u00a0\u00bb il n’y aurait que Asiagomphus xanthenatus en Tha\u00eflande. Je reproduis tout de m\u00eame les dessins de Williamson (1) ou l’on retrouve la fourche des appendices anaux sup\u00e9rieurs que l’on devine sur les photos ci-dessus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’endroit o\u00f9 nous l’avons observ\u00e9 est donc une petite rivi\u00e8re sous un couvert forestier assez dense ; il parcourait ce tunnel de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation rapidement et sans doute sur une assez longueur distance, car il disparaissait suffisamment longtemps pour que nous pensions ne pas le revoir. L’altitude \u00e9tait de 750 m.
Sa distribution est encore difficile \u00e0 cerner, parce qu’il a \u00e9t\u00e9 un peu inexplicablement confondu par Asahina avec Asiagomphus acco<\/a> (que j’ai d’ailleurs rencontr\u00e9 au Vietnam), qui l’avait appel\u00e9 A. acco xanthenatus. Il n’est vraiment connu que du nord de la Tha\u00eflande.
L’IUCN<\/a> n’est pas \u00e0 jour et n’a pas apparemment int\u00e9gr\u00e9 la publication de Tom Kompier (2).

Apr\u00e8s une analyse plus longue de ces photos, je reviens sur cette page et je contredis quelque peu ce que j’ai \u00e9crit plus haut. Sur place, j’ai pens\u00e9 voir toujours le m\u00eame sujet, mais quand on observe soigneusement les motifs thoraciques et l’\u00e9tendue de la tache jaune sur S8, nous en avons certainement observ\u00e9 au moins 3. Ci-dessous, on note que les \u00ab\u00a0points jaunes \u00a0\u00bb sont nettement prolong\u00e9s d’une petite virgule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/span>
Asiagomphus (Asahina, 1985), de Asia<\/em> pour signifier l’appartenance asiatique de ce genre de Gomphus et de Gomphus<\/em>, qui vient, lui, d\u2019un mot grec qui signifie\u00a0cheville<\/em>\u00a0ou\u00a0boulon<\/em>, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la forme de l\u2019abdomen (de la plupart des esp\u00e8ces), qui ressemble \u00e0 une\u00a0cheville pour assembler les bateaux<\/em>. Les Asiagomphus sont distribu\u00e9s depuis l’Inde jusqu’en Cor\u00e9e, au Japon et \u00e0 Ta\u00efwan, \u00e0 l’est et la Malaisie au sud (2).
Xanthenatus, du grec xanthos<\/em>, qui signifie jaune, et du suffixe -atus qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0dot\u00e9 de \u00ab\u00a0. Williamson \u00e9crit en note :\u00a0\u00bbThe specific name refers to the conspicuous yellow area on the ninth abdominal segment. Le nom d’esp\u00e8ce se r\u00e9f\u00e8re \u00e0 la zone jaune bien visible sur le 9\u00b0 segment abdominal\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
