Protosticta grandis a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Asahina en 1984 sous le nom de P. robusta, mais en 1985 il s’est aper\u00e7u que ce nom \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 utilis\u00e9 (preoccupied) par Fraser pour une esp\u00e8ce laotienne.
C’est sans doute le plus grand des Protosticta avec un abdomen de 52 mm et une taille totale de 61 mm.
Ci-dessous deux autres m\u00e2les au m\u00eame endroit et \u00e0 la m\u00eame date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous les avons observ\u00e9s \u00e0 une altitude de 1080 m, pr\u00e8s d’un ruisseau de montagne, en for\u00eat avec une v\u00e9g\u00e9tation dense, sous un temps incertain avec des averses comme en t\u00e9moignent les gouttes sur le thorax du sujet ci-dessous.
J’ai trouv\u00e9 la coloration des yeux peu commune, et les \u00e9pines des pattes spectaculaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La femelle que je n’ai pas vue montre sensiblement le m\u00eame pattern thoracique.
Cette esp\u00e8ce est actuellement connue en Tha\u00eflande, au Laos et au Vietnam.

Ci-dessous, ce m\u00e2le dans cette position curieuse recharge sa v\u00e9sicule s\u00e9minale\u202f; en effet pour tous les odonates le sperme est fabriqu\u00e9 dans l’appareil g\u00e9nital primaire au niveau S8 et S9, puis transf\u00e9r\u00e9 au niveau du S2 ou il sera utilis\u00e9 pendant l’accouplement\u202f; souvent ce transfert de sperme se fait apr\u00e8s la capture de la femelle, parfois avant comme ici. Je n’ai pas photographi\u00e9 le moment exact (seulement juste avant et juste apr\u00e8s…) mais cette photo est int\u00e9ressante, car on voit tr\u00e8s bien le pore g\u00e9nital, c’est-\u00e0-dire l’orifice qui va s’aboucher \u00e0 un segment du p\u00e9nis pour effectuer ce d\u00e9placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
