Je n’ai rencontr\u00e9 Lestes forficula que sur la zone humide du lodge de REGUA<\/a>, et uniquement sur un petit secteur, \u00e0 quelques m\u00e8tres de l’eau. Il semble se plaire parmi les herbes hautes et les petits arbustes qui bordent la rive \u00e0 cet endroit. Tous les Lestess sont \u00e9l\u00e9gants et ceux-ci sont de plus dot\u00e9s d’yeux bleus magnifiques, couleur de porcelaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toutes ces photos de m\u00e2les sont de la m\u00eame date et sur le m\u00eame lieu.

Lestes forficula est le plus commun dans la r\u00e9gion de REGUA (Rio de Janeiro) mais il existe 2 autres Lestes (parmi les 40 esp\u00e8ces d’Am\u00e9rique du Sud) L. pictus et L. tricolor. L. forficula se distingue des deux autres, par la pruinosit\u00e9 (pulv\u00e9rulence) sur les 2 ou 3 derniers segments, entre autres d\u00e9tails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il mesure environ 37 mm et se rencontre du sud des USA \u00e0 l’Argentine. IUCN Red List<\/a>.

M\u00eame s’il appr\u00e9cie les milieux humides comme celui de la r\u00e9serve de REGUA, il se contente parfois de mares temporaires comme le confirme son nom anglais de Rainpool Spreadwing. Il peut \u00eatre actif m\u00eame quand le ciel est nuageux ou qu’il pleut.

Ci-dessous, on voit facilement cette pruinosit\u00e9 caract\u00e9ristique sur les derniers segments. On note la fine \u00e9pine \u00e0 la base du cerque (voir ici pour la nouvelle terminologie<\/a>) gauche et l’aplatissement de ce cerque dans sa partie m\u00e9diane. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ces 2 femelles Lestes forficula, ci-dessous, sont du premier matin, le 4 janvier 2015, parmi les premi\u00e8res photos et il faut croire que je n’\u00e9tais pas remis du voyage… Comme les autres m\u00e2les, ces photos sont faites sur les bords de la zone humide de REGUA. J’ai tout de m\u00eame eu de la chance, car je n’ai jamais r\u00e9ussi plus tard \u00e0 revoir de femelles…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/span>
Lestes<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Leach (1815) et vient du mot grec \u03bb\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u03b7\u03c3 qui signifie voleur<\/em> ou pirate<\/em>, tr\u00e8s vraisemblablement en raison de la forme des appendices anaux qui \u00e9voque le coutelas courb\u00e9 des pirates.
Et non du fait de leur agilit\u00e9, du fait qu\u2019ils soient lestes, comme j\u2019avais essay\u00e9 de le d\u00e9montrer ici<\/a> (sans savoir, d\u2019ailleurs, que c\u2019\u00e9tait la th\u00e9orie que d\u00e9fendait Paul Henri Robert dans ses \u00ab Libellules \u00bb).
Il est tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressant de lire \u00e0 ce sujet l\u2019analyse, sans doute d\u00e9finitive, faite par Matti H\u00e4m\u00e4l\u00e4inen & Heinrich Fliedner (1).
Forficula<\/strong> (2) signifie petit ciseau en latin<\/em> et se rapporte probablement aux paraproctes du m\u00e2le (ex-cerques, voir ici<\/a>), \u201cappendices inf\u00e9rieurs comme chez la Sponsa, laissant entre eux un espace triangulaire \u00a0\u00bb \u00e9crit Rambur \u00e0 la page 347 de son Histoire Naturelle des Insectes N\u00e9vropt\u00e8res<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
