S'il a d\u00e9coll\u00e9 une fois, il s'est repos\u00e9 exactement de la m\u00eame fa\u00e7on et la configuration des lieux nous interdisait d'autres angles. Ce sera notre seule rencontre.<br>C'est un odonate massif avec un abdomen lourd, d'environ 90 mm de longueur totale, pour un abdomen de 67 mm.<br><br>Jusqu'\u00e0 l'article de Schneider et al. (1) en 2023 cette magnifique libellule appartenait aux Polycanthagyna (m\u00eame si elle avait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l'origine d\u00e9crite dans le \"grand genre\" Aeschna) ; cette analyse g\u00e9n\u00e9tique a synonymis\u00e9 ce genre avec les Indaeschna, ce changement a \u00e9t\u00e9 valid\u00e9 par la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.odonatacentral.org\/app\/#\/wol\/\">World Odonata List<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Indaeschna-erythromelas-male-2.webp\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1558\" height=\"1504\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Indaeschna-erythromelas-male-2.webp\" alt=\"Indaeschna erythromelas m\u00e2le, Tha\u00eflande, Pha Lad temple, Doi Suthep NP, 31\/05\/2024\" class=\"wp-image-22905 lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1558px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1558\/1504;width:476px;height:auto\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Indaeschna-erythromelas-male-2.webp 1558w, https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Indaeschna-erythromelas-male-2-768x741.webp 768w, https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Indaeschna-erythromelas-male-2-1536x1483.webp 1536w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1558px) 100vw, 1558px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Indaeschna erythromelas m\u00e2le, Tha\u00eflande, Pha Lad temple, Doi Suthep NP, 31\/05\/2024<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Son identification ne pose pas de probl\u00e8me tant les motifs thoraciques et surtout abdominaux sont particuliers.<br>Dans Field \"<em>Guide to the Dragonflies &amp; Damselflies of Northwest india<\/em> \" (1), on lit que le <em>Common Tigerhawker<\/em> centrerait son habitat autour des \"petites mares foresti\u00e8res et des ruisseaux de montagne (<em>forest pools and forest streams<\/em> in montainous area)\", en dessous de 1000 m\u00e8tres. Deux habitats tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rents, et \u00e9tonnants, pour moi qui ne connais pas cette esp\u00e8ce, et <em>contradictoires<\/em> quand on imagine les sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9s de la ponte dans l'un ou l'autre de ces biotopes. Cependant, de fa\u00e7on \u00e9tonnante, on retrouve exactement la m\u00eame description d'habitat dans \"A field guide to Common Dragonflies and Damselflies of Buthan\" (2), qui cependant le d\u00e9grade en <em>Tiger hawker<\/em> ce qui confirme, si on pouvait en douter, de l'int\u00e9r\u00eat relatif des noms \"vernaculaires\". <br>Il y avait bien une triste <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/31-05-24-Pha-Lad-Temple.webp\">mare artificielle \u00e0 proximit\u00e9<\/a> et nous \u00e9tions \u00e0 environ 675 m d'altitude. Fraser aurait sans doute \u00e9crit Indoaeschna, et il a vu plus \u00e0 l'Est en cr\u00e9ant ce genre, et ne se r\u00e9f\u00e8re pas \u00e0 l'Inde, mais aux Indes Orientales N\u00e9erlandaises.<br><br><em>Aeschna<\/em> est un cas particulier dans l\u2019\u00e9tymologie des noms d\u2019odonates.
