Anotogaster gregoryi est le seul Anatogaster pr\u00e9sent en Tha\u00eflande, c’est m\u00eame le seul Cordulegasteridae. Il est tr\u00e8s rarement vu, avant que nous n’ajoutions notre observation, il n’y en avait que 4 depuis 2016 sur iNaturalist.
Malheureusement, le sujet que nous avons rencontr\u00e9 \u00e9tait mort, sans doute depuis peu, et des fourmis s’occupaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 de son cadavre.
C’est un tr\u00e8s grand odonate, Fraser (1) sur un sujet du Yunnan a mesur\u00e9 son abdomen \u00e0 58.5 mm soit une longueur totale d’environ 78 mm. Asahina (2) sur un sujet tha\u00eflandais le trouve encore plus grand avec un abdomen de 60-61 mm soit 80 mm.

En raison de sa raret\u00e9, on trouve tr\u00e8s peu d’indication sur sa biologie ; il appr\u00e9cierait les suintements, les ruisseaux et foss\u00e9s en for\u00eat entre 1000 et 2500 m d’altitude (3). Notre observation le situe \u00e0 une dizaine de m\u00e8tres d’un torrent<\/em>, \u00e0 la limite de la for\u00eat, approximativement \u00e0 1300 m d’altitude.

Il est extr\u00eamement proche du seul autre Anotogaster que j’ai rencontr\u00e9 au Vietnam, A. chaoi<\/a>, au point que Zhou (1998), qui a d\u00e9crit ce dernier, ne trouve pas de diff\u00e9rences structurelles, seulement dans la disposition des taches jaunes. R\u00e9cemment, le genre a subi des modifications importantes et plusieurs esp\u00e8ces ont \u00e9t\u00e9 synonymis\u00e9es… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sa distribution le montre dans le sud de la Chine, Yunnan, Guangdong et Sichuan, au nord du Vietnam, au Laos et dans le nord de la Tha\u00eflande.

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong><\/span>
Anotogaster<\/strong> (Selys, 1854) est compos\u00e9 de trois mots grecs ; le privatif an<\/em>, pour sans<\/em>, oto<\/em> pour oreille<\/em> et gaster<\/em> pour ventre<\/em> ou abdomen<\/em>. Selys (4) cr\u00e9e le genre comme un sous-genre des Cordulegaster, lui-m\u00eame appartenant aux Gomphines et il \u00e9crit : \u00ab\u00a0Le m\u00e2le est la seule Gomphine de ce sexe priv\u00e9 d’oreillettes\u00a0\u00bb. On utiliserait peut-\u00eatre plus facilement aujourd’hui le terme \u00ab\u00a0auricule<\/a>\u00ab\u00a0.
Gaster<\/em> n’est ici que pour rappeler l’appartenance au genre Cordulegaster.
Gregoryi<\/strong> est un hommage de Fraser \u00e0 John Walter Gregory (1864-1932), g\u00e9ologue et explorateur britannique qui a conduit l’exp\u00e9dition pendant laquelle a \u00e9t\u00e9 collect\u00e9e cette esp\u00e8ce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
