Il y a 3 ou 4 Megalestes actuellement pr\u00e9sents au Vietnam et Megalestes micans fait partie avec hauy<\/em> et australis<\/em> de ceux dont la pr\u00e9sence ou m\u00eame l’existence ne fait pas de doute.
Comme son cousin M. distans, Megalestes micans a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Needham en 1930, dans \u00ab\u00a0A manual of the Dragonflies of China \u00a0\u00bb o\u00f9 il pr\u00e9cise une taille de 53 mm pour son abdomen, ce qui correspond \u00e0 63 mm environ pour l’insecte entier.

Il se distingue des autres Megalestes par (entre autres) une ligne jaune longitudinale qui traverse son pronotum, et d’apr\u00e8s Needham par une ligne jaune transversale sur son occiput, ce deuxi\u00e8me d\u00e9tail semble discret ici.
Enfin, ses cerco\u00efdes forment un cercle bien ferm\u00e9 alors que ceux de australis<\/em> et hauy<\/em> se chevauchent nettement \u00e0 leur extr\u00e9mit\u00e9.
Nous l’avons observ\u00e9 en montagne pr\u00e8s de Sapa, \u00e0 approximativement 1600 m d’altitude, dans la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation tr\u00e8s dense qui tapissait une tr\u00e8s forte pente<\/a>, non loin d’une femelle Calicnemia uenoi.

Il est actuellement connu du Vietnam, des provinces chinoises du Yunnan et Sichuan, et de l’\u00e9tat indien de L’Assam.
