Aristocypha fenestrella a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par le fran\u00e7ais Rambur sous le nom de Rhinocypha fenestrella; lorsque Laidlaw a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre Aristocypha en 1950, certains auteurs ont pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 lui faire int\u00e9grer ce genre. Le choix fait encore d\u00e9bat, mais ce Chlorocyphidae appara\u00eet sous le nom de genre Aristocypha dans la World Odonata List (Schorr & Paulson).
Il est difficile de lui donner une taille totale puisqu’on constate que ses ailes sont plus longues que son abdomen (comme tous les Chlorocyphidae) et que cette taille m\u00eame semble tr\u00e8s variable en fonction de sa localisation g\u00e9ographique\u202f; plus on remonte vers le nord plus les sujets sont grands\u202f; les plus petits individus sont trouv\u00e9s dans la p\u00e9ninsule Malaise et leur aile post\u00e9rieure mesure 25 mm (longueur totale 35 mm environ).
On rencontre cette esp\u00e8ce depuis la p\u00e9ninsule Malaise jusqu’aux provinces chinoises du Guizhou, Guangxi et Yunnan en passant par le Vietnam, la Tha\u00eflande et le Laos et le Myanmar. Sous le nom maintenant synonymis\u00e9 de A. cuneata, elle se rencontre au Tibet et au N\u00e9pal (Description of Aristocypha aino sp. nov. from Hainan, with notes on the related species (Zygoptera: Chlorocyphidae), Matti H\u00e4m\u00e4l\u00e4inen, Graham T. Reels et Haomiao Zhang, TOMBO, Matsumoto, 51: 16-22. Feb. 13, 2009).

Son aile post\u00e9rieure pr\u00e9sente 4 zones hyalines, 3 superpos\u00e9es et une plus post\u00e9rieure, et les nervures de ces \u00ab\u00a0fen\u00eatres\u00a0\u00bb montrent de splendides reflets bleu m\u00e9tallique.
Nous l’avons observ\u00e9 sur une rivi\u00e8re cristalline, assez large et peu profonde, pos\u00e9 sur les rochers dans le courant :<\/p>\n\n\n\n
