En Tha\u00eflande, on l’appelle Ischnura rufostigma et je ne sais pas comment lui est venu ce nom ! Sans doute par simplification, car il est souvent consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme un membre du groupe Ischnura rufostigma. Il existe en effet plusieurs autres esp\u00e8ces (ou sous-esp\u00e8ces<\/em>) tr\u00e8s proches, essentiellement I. carpentieri, mildredae et annandalei.
Cette esp\u00e8ce a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crite par Selys (1) \u00e0 partir d’un exemplaire d’Inde et il \u00e9crit : \u00ab\u00a0… l’articulation basale et la moiti\u00e9 post\u00e9rieure du 8\u00b0<\/em> [segment abdominal], tout le dessus du 9\u00b0 et le dessus du 10\u00b0, except\u00e9 le bord post\u00e9rieur, noir\u00e2tres ; au 8\u00b0, le cercle basal est reli\u00e9 \u00e0 la moiti\u00e9 post\u00e9rieure par une ligne dorsale de m\u00eame couleur. Le bord du 10\u00b0 roux, termin\u00e9 par deux petits tubercules coniques un peu relev\u00e9s, assez rapproch\u00e9s \u00e0 chaque c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l’ar\u00eate.<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. Il est \u00e9vident que cela ne correspond pas du tout \u00e0 l’esp\u00e8ce que je montre dont le S7 est noir et qui montre une superbe marque bleue sur le S8 \u00e0 laquelle Selys ne fait m\u00eame pas mention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toutes les photos de cette page ont \u00e9t\u00e9 prises sur la m\u00eame mare ou \u00e9tang<\/a> \u00e0 environ 1450 m d’altitude.

Dans les travaux les plus r\u00e9cents sur ce groupe, on trouve celui de Vick (2) en 1986 et celui de Mitra & Babu (3) en 2010. Il n’existe pas de r\u00e9vision plus r\u00e9cente, \u00e0 ma connaissance.
Asahina, plus t\u00f4t encore, en 1970, consid\u00e9rait que annandalei<\/em> et carpentieri<\/em> \u00e9taient des synonymes de mildredae<\/em>, lui-m\u00eame une sous-esp\u00e8ce de rufostigma<\/em>\u2026 Vick, 1986 produit un tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressant dessin comparatif des derniers segments abdominaux de ces esp\u00e8ces et de leurs appendices anaux, notablement diff\u00e9rents, et qui justifient pour lui que l’on traite ces odonates comme des esp\u00e8ces diff\u00e9rentes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De ces dessins, une conclusion s’impose ; ce Coenagrionidae tha\u00eflandais ne peut appartenir qu’\u00e0 une de ces deux esp\u00e8ces : I. carpentieri ou I. mildredae, les deux seules \u00e0 porter une tache bleue sur le S8 et \u00e0 montrer une coloration noire sur les quatre derniers segments. La fa\u00e7on la plus \u00e9vidente de les s\u00e9parer est l’importance de la projection verticale du 10\u00b0 segment, massive et tronqu\u00e9e pour I. carpentieri, fine, ac\u00e9r\u00e9e, un peu crochue, presque horizontale de I. mildredae.
On trouve ci-dessous un (trop) fort agrandissement d’une de mes photos qui correspond parfaitement \u00e0 cette derni\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’en \u00e9tais arriv\u00e9 exactement \u00e0 la m\u00eame conclusion au Vietnam<\/a>, o\u00f9 j’avais fait une meilleure photo des appendices anaux<\/a> (et o\u00f9 l’on trouvera un comparatif de ces appendices).
Il serait bien n\u00e9cessaire que ce groupe soit \u00e0 nouveau r\u00e9vis\u00e9 par une autorit\u00e9, car si on trouve une cl\u00e9 des Ischnura indiens dans Mitra & Babu, 2010 (3), celle-ci est partiellement bas\u00e9e sur la coloration des pt\u00e9rostigmas, ignorant la coloration bleue du 8\u00b0 segment, comme si elle \u00e9tait accessoire (voire inconstante).
Ils suivent Asahina et consid\u00e8rent annandalei<\/em> et carpentieri<\/em>  comme des sous-esp\u00e8ces<\/em> de Ischnura rufostigma : mais le premier \u00e9l\u00e9ment diagnostique de leur cl\u00e9 est \u00ab\u00a0le pt\u00e9rostigma avec une bordure distale jaune<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb qui pour eux signe Ischnura mildredae, ce qu’on observe facilement sur la premi\u00e8re photo de cette page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors selon que l’on suit Asahina, Mitra & Babu, ou Vick, on a ici \u00e0 faire soit \u00e0 une sous-esp\u00e8ce<\/em> (je pr\u00e9f\u00e9rerais une forme<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0) Ischnura rufostigma mildredae, soit \u00e0 une esp\u00e8ce valide Ischnura mildredae. Mais pas Ischnura rufostigma ssp. rufostigma ou Ischnura rufostigma !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ischnura mildredae a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Fraser (4) qui nous dit que son abdomen atteint 24 mm (en Malaisie) soit environ 30 mm au total. Pour lui bien s\u00fbr, les quatre derniers segments sont noirs et le S8 porte une tache bleue.
Ce qui est plus \u00e9tonnant est que Fraser d\u00e9crive les femelles avec \u00e9galement une large tache bleue sur le huiti\u00e8me segment. On trouve quelques photos de cette esp\u00e8ce sur Odonata of India<\/a>, mais aucune femelle ne montre du bleu sur ce segment…

En Tha\u00eflande, il semble que deux formes de femelles soient \u00ab\u00a0homologu\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb comme se rapportant \u00e0 cette esp\u00e8ce (quel que soit son nom) : une forme pseudo homochrome, avec de fines traces de bleu \u00e0 la jonction des S7-S8 et S8-S9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une forme gynochrome, totalement diff\u00e9rente, comme il arrive souvent pour les Ischnura avec l’abdomen compl\u00e8tement noir :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour compliquer, il faut noter que Odonata of China<\/a>, sous la rubrique Ischnura rufostigma montre, parmi d’autres, un individu m\u00e2le sans bleu sur le S8. Sans introduire la moindre notion de sous-esp\u00e8ce<\/em>, l\u00e0 aussi sans doute pour simplifier.

Les odonates du groupe Ischnura rufostigma se plaisent sur les zones humides bien v\u00e9g\u00e9talis\u00e9es, les marais, les rizi\u00e8res, depuis l’Inde jusqu’au sud de la Chine, mais il est absent de la p\u00e9ninsule malaisienne. IUCN Red List<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong><\/span>
Ischnura<\/strong> (5) vient du grec\u00a0ischnos<\/em>\u00a0pour\u00a0fin<\/em>\u00a0ou\u00a0mince<\/em>\u00a0et de\u00a0oura<\/em>\u00a0qui signifie\u00a0queue<\/em>. Charpentier explique qu\u2019il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 ce nom en raison de la finesse exceptionnelle de l\u2019abdomen (sans doute en comparaison du genre Calopteryx, d\u2019apr\u00e8s Fliedner (2006), car elle n\u2019a, pour nous, rien d\u2019\u00e9tonnant en soi).
Rufostigma<\/strong> du verbe latin rufo<\/em> qui signifie devenir roux,<\/em> et de stigma<\/em>, marque au fer rouge<\/em> ou tache<\/em>, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence bien s\u00fbr \u00e0 la coloration des pt\u00e9rostigmas des ailes post\u00e9rieures.

Mme Mildred Wall (6) \u00e9tait l’\u00e9pouse du colonel Franck Wall, m\u00e9decin anglais, lui-m\u00eame naturaliste et collecteur \u00e0 qui Fraser a \u00e9galement rendu hommage (Nepogomphus walli, Heliogomphus walli…).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
