\u00ab\u00a0Elattoneura\u00a0\u00bb aurantiaca est un Platycnemididae facilement identifiable ; la face est noire, les yeux sont rouges comme le pronotum, la partie dorsale du thorax est noir, les parties lat\u00e9rales rouges, la base du thorax marron clair, comme la face lat\u00e9rale du premier segment, le reste de l’abdomen est noir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je connaissais le genre Elattoneura pour avoir contact\u00e9 E. glauca<\/a> en Namibie ; j’ai donc \u00e9t\u00e9 surpris de rencontrer d’autres membres du genre au Sarawak. Mais, apr\u00e8s tout, Ischnura senegalensis, un autre zygopt\u00e8re, est aussi pr\u00e9sent en Afrique qu’en Asie (et \u00e0 Born\u00e9o). Ceci pour dire que je n’ai pas \u00e9t\u00e9 vraiment \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tonn\u00e9 que Rory Dow (1) place des guillemets autour du nom de genre :\u00a0\u00bb Note that the southeast Asian species currently placed in Elattoneura certainly<\/span> do not belong there, but are left there until the issue of their true genus is resolved, so inverted commas are used around the genus name to emphasise this.\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit par Selys (2) sous le nom de Disparoneura aurantiaca et c’est Cowley en 1935 qui l’a int\u00e9gr\u00e9 au genre Elattoneura sur la base de crit\u00e8res de nervation. Selys nous dit que son abdomen mesure 33-34 mm (33,5 mm pour A.G. Orr (3)) ce qui donne une longueur totale de 39 mm.

Pour donner une id\u00e9e de sa taille, voir la photo ci-contre : alors que nous \u00e9tions en bateau sur une des rivi\u00e8res qui parcourt le Maludam National Park, ce sujet est rentr\u00e9 dans mon sac \u00e0 dos… (29\/03\/2025).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Son habitat est constitu\u00e9 de rivi\u00e8res lentes en for\u00eat et il semble d\u00e9pendant des Pandanus<\/a> (ici dessin\u00e9 par Wallace, en 1855, au Sarawak) ; il s’agit d’arbustes \u00e0 feuilles longues et \u00e9pineuses, port\u00e9es par des pseudo-troncs reposant sur un syst\u00e8me de racines \u00e9chasses en forme de pyramide. Il est vraisemblable que ce syst\u00e8me racinaire apporte un abri parfait aux larves de cet \u00ab\u00a0Elattoneura\u00a0\u00bb.
Les m\u00e2les \u00e9taient extr\u00eamement communs tout au long de ces canaux, partageant l’espace avec Pseudagrion coomansi et Libellago hyalina. Mais quand on rentre un peu dans la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, quand il fait plus sombre, on ne rencontre plus que les femelles et les m\u00e2les immatures.

Sa distribution, certainement en d\u00e9clin en raison de la sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9 de son habitat, le situe \u00e0 Born\u00e9o, sur la p\u00e9ninsule Malaise et en Indon\u00e9sie. IUCN Red List<\/a>.

Les femelles, plus discr\u00e8tes et beaucoup moins nombreuses, sont magnifiques ! Leur coloration \u00e9volue consid\u00e9rablement avec l’\u00e2ge. Ci-dessous, celle de gauche est sans doute la plus jeune, car on note que les ailes brillantes et la couleur tr\u00e8s p\u00e2le du bleu de la partie inf\u00e9rieur de l’\u0153il. Celle de droite ne para\u00eet pas jeune ; pourtant le sommet de son \u0153il ne porte qu’une petite tache bleue et peut-\u00eatre au contraire perdent-elles cette coloration bleue en prenant de l’\u00e2ge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toutes ces femelles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 photographi\u00e9es assez loin \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur du parc national, en for\u00eat, \u00e0 la fois de pandanus, mais aussi avec des arbres plus importants, mais toujours en milieu inond\u00e9 ; il s’agit alors de tourbi\u00e8res mar\u00e9cageuses dont le sol gorg\u00e9 d’eau emp\u00eache la d\u00e9composition des feuilles, des branches et des troncs et rendent la progression tr\u00e8s difficile comme nous le faire voir Rory Dow.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Et cet environnement ne m’a pas r\u00e9ussi, car juste apr\u00e8s avoir photographi\u00e9 cette magnifique femelle ci-dessous, en descendant d’une souche, une branche invisible sous l’eau couleur chocolat a c\u00e9d\u00e9 sous mon poids et je me suis couch\u00e9 dans l’eau avec tout mon mat\u00e9riel : mon appareil photo ne s’en est pas remis… Heureusement, notre s\u00e9jour \u00e9tait presque termin\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elattoneura<\/strong> (4) du grec ellaton<\/em>, pour plus petit,<\/em> et neuron<\/em> qui en entomologie est traduit par nervure dans une aile<\/em>. Ceci en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la longueur r\u00e9duite d’une veine qui fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence dans la syst\u00e9matique des zygopt\u00e8res.
Aurantiaca<\/strong>, du latin aurantiacus<\/em> qui signifie orange<\/em>. Selys travaillait sur des sujets de collection, forc\u00e9ment d\u00e9color\u00e9s et il \u00e9crit : \u00ab\u00a0Prothorax orange. Devant du thorax orange-vif, …<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
