Coeliccia nigrohamata fait partie d’un genre de Platycnemididae qui comporte actuellement 80 membres en Asie dont 15 \u00e0 Born\u00e9o, tous end\u00e9miques. Neuf esp\u00e8ces ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crites, en Asie, en 2020, et d’autres viendront certainement s’ajouter \u00e0 la liste.
Il m’a tout de suite fait penser \u00e0 C. octogesima<\/a> que j’avais rencontr\u00e9 en 2013 en Malaisie P\u00e9ninsulaire, pour le motif thoracique repr\u00e9sentant un ancien combin\u00e9 t\u00e9l\u00e9phonique. Ce que je ne savais pas, c’est qu’il existe au moins deux autres esp\u00e8ces \u00e0 Born\u00e9o qui exposent le m\u00eame d\u00e9cor : C. matok, que nous rencontrerons dans une tourbi\u00e8re, et C. paludensis que nous n’avons pas vu. Tous les deux ont souvent un peu de bleu sur le 8\u00b0 segment, coloration absente pour Coeliccia nigrohamata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour les identifier, il faut donc se r\u00e9f\u00e9rer aux appendices anaux et\/ou \u00e0 leur habitat que l’on d\u00e9couvre dans Dow, 2016 (2). Les appendices anaux sup\u00e9rieurs de C. nigrohamata sont plus courts que les inf\u00e9rieurs, c’est l’inverse pour C. matok. Mais, la diff\u00e9rence est infime et les photos que j’ai faites sont incapables de le monter ; le motif thoracique me semblait tellement sp\u00e9cifique lorsque j’ai rencontr\u00e9 C. nigrohamata que j’ai pens\u00e9 que ce n’\u00e9tait pas la peine de photographier tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment les appendices anaux…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C. paludensis n’est connu que du sud-ouest de Born\u00e9o. Et, heureusement, en principe, C. nigrohamata et C. matok ne se c\u00f4toient pas ; lorsqu’ils sont pr\u00e9sents dans une m\u00eame aire g\u00e9ographique, C. matok est confin\u00e9 aux tourbi\u00e8res foresti\u00e8res. L’habitat de C. nigrohamata est plus vari\u00e9, un peu plus ouvert. Nous l’avons rencontr\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de cascades, en limite de for\u00eat, et surtout dans des foss\u00e9s, dans des zones envahies de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, de type tunnel, comme ci-dessous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il faut imaginer sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 droit de la route un foss\u00e9, couvert de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation ou l’eau circule plus ou moins doucement, selon la pente du terrain. Dans les endroits o\u00f9 la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation est un peu moins dense et forme des tunnels, on y trouve Coeliccia nigrohamata mais aussi, C. cf. nemoricola et, parfois, quand les foug\u00e8res s’\u00e9cartent un peu plus encore, Stenagrion dubium et Devadatta clavicauda.
C’est une route de colline plus que de montagne et nous sommes ici \u00e0 260 m d’altitude, sur les pentes du Mont Serapi qui atteint pr\u00e8s de 900 m.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Laidlaw nous dit que son abdomen mesure 38 mm, ce qui lui donne une longueur totale d’\u00e0 peine moins de 45 mm.
Il fr\u00e9quente, en for\u00eat, les ruisseaux et les zones mar\u00e9cageuses.

Il est end\u00e9mique de Born\u00e9o, mais largement distribu\u00e9 au nord-ouest, \u00e0 travers le Sarawak, Brunei et Sabbah. On le trouve \u00e9galement au sud-est du Kalimantan (Indon\u00e9sie). IUCN Red List<\/a>. Rory Dow estime que les populations d\u00e9clinent (destruction de la for\u00eat humide), m\u00eame si la situation n’est pas encore inqui\u00e9tante pour cette esp\u00e8ce.

Le temps que nous avons rencontr\u00e9 durant ces 13 jours de prospection, en particulier lorsque nous \u00e9tions en for\u00eat, a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s d\u00e9cevant et pluvieux ; nous avons rencontr\u00e9 quatre esp\u00e8ces de Coeliccia, mais aucune femelle !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong><\/span>
Selys a d\u00e9crit la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce du genre en 1863 sous le nom de genre pr\u00e9occup\u00e9 de Trichocnemis (col\u00e9opt\u00e8re longicorne) et c\u2019est Kirby qui a rectifi\u00e9 et cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre\u00a0Coeliccia<\/strong>\u00a0en 1890. Ce nom de genre, inexpliqu\u00e9 par l\u2019auteur \u00e0 ma connaissance, vient peut-\u00eatre du latin\u00a0coelum\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0(ou\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>caelum<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>), qui signifie\u00a0ciel<\/em>\u00a0ou\u00a0c\u00e9leste<\/em>, et d\u2019un suffixe ou simple terminaison choisie pour l\u2019esth\u00e9tique ou la phon\u00e9tique. En effet, la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce d\u00e9crite par Selys, Trichocnemis membranipes, est\u00a0bleu-ciel<\/em>, pour toutes ses parties non noires.
Nigrohamata<\/strong> : du latin niger<\/em>, noir<\/em> et de hamatus<\/em> qui signifie hame\u00e7onn\u00e9, muni de crochet<\/em>. Laidlaw ne donne pas d’explication. Il faut aussi noter, et j’en suis tr\u00e8s surpris, que Laidlaw ne d\u00e9crit pas cette forme singuli\u00e8re de la coloration bleue sur le thorax, mais il y voit deux taches bleues non reli\u00e9es de chaque c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la car\u00e8ne dorsale :\u00a0\u00bbon either side of the middorsal carina are two silver-blue spot, the lower large and elliptical, the upper small and linear.<\/em> \u00ab\u00a0. Il ne faut sans doute donc pas aller chercher la signification de nigrohamata<\/em> de ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 (comme je l’ai d’abord pens\u00e9 en raison de la forme noire contenue dans ce dessin bleu), mais plut\u00f4t dans la forme des appendices anaux sup\u00e9rieurs, qu’il d\u00e9crit noirs et dot\u00e9s d’une dent interne :\u00a0\u00bb Anal appendages black<\/span> ; the upper pair shorter than the lower, pair, obliquely truncate, with two internal ventral teeth on each<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0\u00bb. Les deux dents internes pourraient \u00eatre ces crochets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
