Coeliccia matok fait partie des Platycnemididae, un genre qui comprend actuellement 80 esp\u00e8ces distribu\u00e9es de l\u2019Inde au Japon et \u00e0 l\u2019Indon\u00e9sie ; une vingtaine d\u2019esp\u00e8ces ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crites depuis une dizaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es. Il appartient \u00e0 ces odonates sensibles au pr\u00e9-\u00e9clair de nos flashes ; les flashes \u00e9mettent un infime pr\u00e9-\u00e9clair pour que l'appareil photo puisse analyser la lumi\u00e8re r\u00e9fl\u00e9chie et adapter la quantit\u00e9 de lumi\u00e8re pour exposer la sc\u00e8ne correctement. S'il n'est quasiment pas perceptible, il g\u00eane certains zygopt\u00e8res qui d\u00e9collent bri\u00e8vement, comme le montre les deux photos ci-dessus (ce comportement peut se r\u00e9p\u00e9ter une ou dix fois avant que le sujet ne s'habitue ou ne s'enfuie).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C. matok est end\u00e9mique de l'extr\u00eame ouest de Born\u00e9o et nous l'avons rencontr\u00e9 dans une tourbi\u00e8re mar\u00e9cageuse en for\u00eat que nous a fait d\u00e9couvrir Rory Dow (1), grand sp\u00e9cialiste des odonates d'Asie du Sud-Est et en particulier de Born\u00e9o puisqu'il r\u00e9side \u00e0 Kuching (Sarawak). Cette tourbi\u00e8re tr\u00e8s sombre o\u00f9 l'on s'enfonce parfois assez profond\u00e9ment... est \u00e9tonnamment situ\u00e9e sur le campus de l'Universit\u00e9 de Kuching, et c'est l\u00e0 que R. Dow l'a identifi\u00e9.

Rory Dow, qui nous offre une grande quantit\u00e9 de pr\u00e9cieux documents (1) sur les odonates de Born\u00e9o, pr\u00e9cise qu'il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9 comme C. octogesima par Laidlaw, 1918 (2). On le comprend facilement, quand on regarde ces photos<\/a> de Malaisie P\u00e9ninsulaire, mais il n'est pas pr\u00e9sent \u00e0 Born\u00e9o.
Son abdomen, sans les appendices anaux, mesure 33 mm, l'insecte entier atteint donc environ 40 mm.

\u00c0 Born\u00e9o, 3 autres esp\u00e8ces sont cependant tr\u00e8s proches et exhibent \u00e9galement ce motif thoracique de vieux combin\u00e9 t\u00e9l\u00e9phonique<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il s'agit de C. paludensis et C. macrostigma, que nous ne pouvions rencontrer, et de C. nigrohamata ; nous ne pouvions contacter les deux premi\u00e8res esp\u00e8ces, car C. macrostigma n'est pr\u00e9sent qu'\u00e0 Brunei et C. paludensis dans le sud du Kalimantan. Lorsque C. nigrohamata et C. matok sont pr\u00e9sents, ils semblent s'exclure, C. matok restant confin\u00e9 aux tourbi\u00e8res, alors que son cousin se trouve en zones plus ouvertes. Encore une fois, le genre Coeliccia est tr\u00e8s difficile et seul l'examen minutieux des appendices anaux permet de confirmer l'identification de certaines esp\u00e8ces.
Mais heureusement, dans la tourbi\u00e8re foresti\u00e8re o\u00f9 nous prospections en compagnie de l'inventeur de l'esp\u00e8ce, C. nigrohamata n'a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 rencontr\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les m\u00e2les sont tr\u00e8s rares (nos photos sont les premi\u00e8res photos de terrain sur le Web), les femelles encore plus et nous n'en avons rencontr\u00e9 qu'une ! Elle se diff\u00e9rencie des m\u00e2les par le motif thoracique bris\u00e9 en son milieu :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le meilleur moyen de s'assurer de leur identit\u00e9 \u00e9tant, comme toujours, de les trouver en accouplement.
Noter le fond tr\u00e8s sombre qui accompagne la plupart de ces photos et t\u00e9moigne de l'\u00e9clairage ambiant dans cette tourbi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Selys a d\u00e9crit la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce du genre en 1863 sous le nom de genre pr\u00e9occup\u00e9 de Trichocnemis (col\u00e9opt\u00e8re longicorne) et c\u2019est Kirby qui a rectifi\u00e9 et cr\u00e9\u00e9 le genre\u00a0Coeliccia<\/strong>\u00a0en 1890. Ce nom de genre, inexpliqu\u00e9 par l\u2019auteur \u00e0 ma connaissance, vient peut-\u00eatre du latin\u00a0coelum\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0(ou\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>caelum<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>), qui signifie\u00a0ciel<\/em>\u00a0ou\u00a0c\u00e9leste<\/em>, et d\u2019un suffixe ou simple terminaison choisie pour l\u2019esth\u00e9tique ou la phon\u00e9tique. En effet, la premi\u00e8re esp\u00e8ce d\u00e9crite par Selys, Trichocnemis membranipes, est\u00a0bleu-ciel<\/em>, pour toutes ses parties non noires.
Matok<\/strong> est expliqu\u00e9 par R. Dow : \"Matok, a noun in apposition, named for Marijan Matok in gratitude for his continued financial
support of the International Dragonfly Fund.\" - \"Matok, un nom en apposition, nomm\u00e9 d'apr\u00e8s Marijan Matok en remerciement pour son soutien financier continu au Fonds International des Libellules.\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
