Podolestes harrissoni est un des neuf membres de ce genre, un des six que l’on rencontre \u00e0 Born\u00e9o, un des quatre que nous \u00e9tions susceptibles de rencontrer dans notre r\u00e9gion de prospection, mais nous ne rencontrerons finalement que Podolestes orientalis<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il se s\u00e9pare facilement de ce dernier et de P. chrysopus, tr\u00e8s proche de P. orientalis, par le fait qu’il ne porte pas de marques color\u00e9es sur le thorax, \u00e9tant recouvert d’une pulv\u00e9rulence blanch\u00e2tre. Le dernier, Podolestes parvus ne serait pr\u00e9sent que dans la r\u00e9gion du Parc National de Maludam, il n’en existe pas de photo sur le Web \u00e0 cette date et l’article publi\u00e9 par Dow & Ngiam, 2019, n’est pas ais\u00e9ment accessible.
Selon Lieftinck, son abdomen mesure 32.5 \u00e0 34 mm, l’insecte entier devant atteindre presque 43 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est le plus commun des Podolestes des tourbi\u00e8res (3), qui sont son milieu de pr\u00e9dilection, mais on le rencontre \u00e9galement sur des ruisseaux forestiers (2). Dans notre cas, c’est une tourbi\u00e8re foresti\u00e8re qui recelait des tr\u00e9sors et des raret\u00e9s comme certains Teinobasis et Amphicnemis…

Il est end\u00e9mique du Sarawak et de Brunei.

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Podolestes<\/strong> (Selys, 1862), du grec\u00a0pous<\/em>\u2013podo<\/em>\u00a0qui signifie\u00a0pied<\/em>\u00a0ou\u00a0jambe<\/em>, et de lestes. Lestes a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Leach (1815) et vient du mot grec \u03bb\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u03b7\u03c3 qui signifie voleur ou pirate, tr\u00e8s vraisemblablement en raison de la forme des appendices anaux qui \u00e9voque le coutelas courb\u00e9 et dentel\u00e9 des pirates (5). Selys \u00e9crit : \u00a0\u00bb\u00a0Pieds longs, longuement cili\u00e9s,\u00a0\u00e0 onglets des tarses simples<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. Selys fait donc certainement r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux \u00ab\u00a0pieds\u00a0\u00bb particuliers de ce genre, que ce soit \u00e0 propos de leur longueur ou de leurs tarses sp\u00e9cifiques et mentionn\u00e9s en italique, ou des deux.
