Stenagrion dubium est un Coenagrionidae qui pr\u00e9sente un tr\u00e8s long abdomen, 40 mm (1) pour un thorax de 7 mm. De pr\u00e8s, il est tr\u00e8s attrayant, car si les spots bleus de l’extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 de son abdomen apporte un peu de couleur, ce n’est rien par rapport \u00e0 sa face, ses yeux et son thorax, jaune et vert lumineux, domin\u00e9 d’un d\u00e9cor bleu original. Et je n’ai pas r\u00e9sist\u00e9 \u00e0 faire faire trop de photo de ce lutin de l’ombre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai franchement ador\u00e9 ce zygopt\u00e8re pour ce m\u00e9lange de teintes ; le pronotum est richement d\u00e9cor\u00e9 de bleu avec une peu commune double ligne centrale qui se poursuit sur le reste du thorax et ses bandes ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rales sont spectaculairement \u00ab\u00a0d\u00e9chir\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb ; c’est d’ailleurs un caract\u00e8re qui n’est pas absolument constant, on trouve des individus sur iNaturalist<\/a> avec des bandes compl\u00e8tes.
Il est bien difficile de trouver un autre zygopt\u00e8re avec lequel on puisse le confondre, \u00e0 Born\u00e9o, ou ailleurs en Asie. Il existe pourtant, depuis H\u00e4m\u00e4l\u00e4inen, 1997 (2) un autre Stenagrion, Stenagrion petermilleri<\/em>, dont je n’ai pu trouver aucune photo, mais dont le thorax forme \u00ab\u00a0une mosa\u00efque de couleur noire, marron fonc\u00e9, bleu et jaune olive\u00a0\u00bb. On ne le rencontre que dans la province de Palawan aux Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous l’avons rencontr\u00e9 sous la pluie, mais les averses ne doivent pas lui importer, car il vit dans le spray et les \u00e9claboussures des cascades. Ici, c’est au pied d’une minuscule chute d’eau, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 un ruisseau forestier joint un foss\u00e9, le long de la route. Il \u00e9tait en bonne compagnie, puisqu’avec lui, ou plut\u00f4t dans le foss\u00e9 envahi de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, nous avons d\u00e9couvert Coeliccia nigrohamata et cf. nemoricola, Drepanosticta rufostigma et Devadatta clavicauda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il existe deux formes (3) de Stenagrion dubium, qui ne diff\u00e8rent que par la couleur de la face : une forme avec la face jaune, celle que nous avons rencontr\u00e9e autour de Kuching et l’ouest du Sarawak, une forme avec la face bleue dans tout le reste du Sarawak, Brunei et Sabah et au Kalimantan.
Il est d’ailleurs end\u00e9mique de Born\u00e9o.

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Stenagrion<\/strong>, du grec stenos<\/em>, pour \u00e9troit<\/em> et de agrion<\/em>, du grec\u00a0agrios<\/em>\u2013\u00a0sauvage<\/em>, vivant dans les champs. Laidlaw (4) \u00e9crit :\u00a0\u00bb Body very slender… (Corps tr\u00e8s mince…)\u00a0\u00bb qui pourrait expliquer l’\u00e9troitesse \u00e9voqu\u00e9e. Mais il commence sa description par \u00ab\u00a0Wings petiolated to the level of A*\u00a0\u00bb. Il est donc \u00e9galement possible qu’imitant Selys et son genre Stenobasis (devenu Archibasis), il ait voulu insister sur les ailes longuement p\u00e9tiol\u00e9es (voir l’\u00e9tymologie de Archibasis melanocyana<\/a>).
S’il a rajout\u00e9 le terme Agrion c’est qu’il a d’abord d\u00e9crit l’esp\u00e8ce sous le nom de Pseudagrion dubium (1) en exprimant toutefois les r\u00e9serves qui justifient son nom d’esp\u00e8ce.
Dubium<\/strong>, du latin dubium<\/em>, qui signifie doute<\/em>, h\u00e9sitation<\/em>, traduit l’incertitude quant \u00e0 son appartenance au genre Pseudagrion. C’est Laidlaw lui-m\u00eame qui en 1915 (4), appuy\u00e9 par les doutes de Ris, cr\u00e9era pour lui le genre Stenagrion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
