Telosticta bidayuh (Platystictidae) fait partie d’un genre d\u00e9crit en 2012, qui comprend 17 esp\u00e8ces end\u00e9miques de Born\u00e9o et Palawan. On en compte 14 au Sarawak, mais seulement six (heureusement<\/em> pour l’identification par les amateurs !) dans la partie ouest que nous avons prospect\u00e9e.
\u00c0 l’oppos\u00e9 des trois autres esp\u00e8ces que nous avons rencontr\u00e9es (T. dupophila<\/a>, T. santubong<\/a> et T. serapi<\/a>) il fait partie des Telosticta qui pr\u00e9sentent des bandes ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rales assez longues (mais pas compl\u00e8tes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La premi\u00e8re photo montre la face dorsale du thorax de Telosticta bidayuh, la quatri\u00e8me celle de T. feronia, dont la bande ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rale est tr\u00e8s semblable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans la m\u00eame publication, Dow & Orr (1) montre la r\u00e9partition de la coloration bleue sur les derniers segments. Et heureusement, Telosticta bidayuh et T. feronia sont tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rents ;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors que Telosticta bidayuh ne montre que deux taches color\u00e9es accol\u00e9es sur le huiti\u00e8me segment, T. feronia pr\u00e9sente une tache compl\u00e8te et rectangulaire sur les segments huit et neuf.
La coloration du S8 de T. bidayuh n’est pas forc\u00e9ment bilob\u00e9e, mais peut former une seule tache comme le montrent certaines de mes photos ; cette variation est relev\u00e9e dans l’ouvrage d\u00e9j\u00e0 cit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Nous avons rencontr\u00e9 l’esp\u00e8ce \u00e0 deux reprises. La premi\u00e8re fois, le 26 mars, tr\u00e8s bri\u00e8vement, la seconde, le 30 mars, plus longtemps ; cependant, lors de ce deuxi\u00e8me contact, je n’ai pu que faire des photos tr\u00e8s moyennes avec un appareil et surtout un objectif de secours, \u00e9tant tomb\u00e9 \u00e0 l’eau la veille…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les auteurs d\u00e9j\u00e0 cit\u00e9s nous disent que son abdomen mesure 33.5 mm sans les appendices anaux. Il mesure donc au total environ 41 mm.
Lors de notre deuxi\u00e8me rencontre, Ranchan Recreational Park, les sujets que nous avons contact\u00e9s se trouvaient en for\u00eat, dans des zones sombres, \u00e0 quelque distance d’une importante chute d’eau, au-dessus des filets d’eau qui s’\u00e9chappaient lat\u00e9ralement du courant principal. Il a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 rencontr\u00e9 sur de petits ruisseaux bien en pente, toujours en for\u00eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur ce site, nous l’avons trouv\u00e9 en compagnie de Coeliccia nigrohamata<\/a>. Mais les auteurs l’ont rencontr\u00e9 accompagn\u00e9 de T. serapi<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est end\u00e9mique du Sarawak et n’est actuellement connu que d’une aire tr\u00e8s limit\u00e9e \u00e0 l’extr\u00eame ouest du Sarawak, autour de Kuching. Il est tr\u00e8s rare et les photos que nous avons faites sont les premi\u00e8res sur iNaturalist.

Noter sur ce sujet la tache vert sombre \u00e0 l’extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 de la face dorsale du thorax, qui n’est qu’une particule v\u00e9g\u00e9tale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong> (1)
Telosticta<\/strong> est un nom f\u00e9minin, compos\u00e9 du grec \u03c4\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2, signifiant p\u00e9age, du nom de Jan van Tol, dont le nom de famille provient du mot n\u00e9erlandais de m\u00eame signification, en hommage \u00e0 ses contributions \u00e0 notre connaissance des Platystictidae, et du suffixe \u2013sticta, une terminaison g\u00e9n\u00e9rique courante dans la famille [des Platystictidae]. Sticta<\/em> vient du grec stiktos<\/em> qui signifie tach\u00e9<\/em>, tatou\u00e9<\/em>, et fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au genre Platysticta d\u2019Asie du Sud dont l\u2019extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 des ailes porte une tache sombre.
Bidayuh<\/strong> ; Bidayuh est le nom collectif de plusieurs peuples indig\u00e8nes de Born\u00e9o et l’aire de r\u00e9partition actuellement connue de cette esp\u00e8ce correspond au c\u0153ur du territoire de ces peuples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
