Je n’ai pas eu plus de chance qu’en Malaisie<\/a> pour photographier le tout petit Libellago hyalina ; nous avons pu en observer plusieurs le long d’un tr\u00e8s profond foss\u00e9, au bord d’une route<\/a> tr\u00e8s fr\u00e9quent\u00e9e pr\u00e8s de Kuching mais il a \u00e9t\u00e9 impossible de vraiment les approcher. La pente \u00e9tait trop forte et ils se sont montr\u00e9s tr\u00e8s timides, reculant d\u00e8s que l’on parvenait \u00e0 2 m\u00e8tres.
J’avais cru voir de vieux sujets en Malaisie, j’avais trouv\u00e9 la couleur de l’abdomen assez terne et je pensais les voir plus lumineux dans leur jeunesse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais non, ils ont le thorax tr\u00e8s sombre, presque noir, avec des reflets vert profond et un abdomen rouge violac\u00e9, une teinte particuli\u00e8re et peu commune. Selys, qui l’a d\u00e9crit sous le nom de Micromerus hyalinus<\/em>, un genre aujourd’hui disparu, voyait m\u00eame cet abdomen noir (sujet terni en collection) et parlait de l’ensemble du corps noir viol\u00e2tre<\/em>.
On remarque bien s\u00fbr ses ailes hyalines, ce qui est assez peu commun parmi les Chlorocyphidae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Que ce soit \u00e0 Born\u00e9o ou ailleurs, son identification ne pose pas de probl\u00e8me si on additionne ailes hyalines et abdomen violac\u00e9<\/em>.
Sa longueur totale n’est que de 20 \u00e0 22 mm \u00e0 Singapour (2).

Lors de notre prospection en pirogue, avec Rory Dow, dans le Parc National de Maludam, en pirogue<\/a>, nous avons eu la chance de contacter plusieurs femelles, mais la qualit\u00e9 des photos est al\u00e9atoire depuis une petite embarcation en mouvement…
Elles sont certainement jeunes, comme le montrent leurs yeux clairs et leurs pt\u00e9rostigmas blancs, mais l’aile est toujours hyaline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Clearwing gem, comme le nomme les anglosaxons se plait en for\u00eat mar\u00e9cageuse ou sur des cours d’eau lents en for\u00eat ; nous ne l’avons toutefois rencontr\u00e9 qu’en limite de ces zones, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 le soleil les atteint.

Sa distribution g\u00e9ographique s’\u00e9tend du sud du Vietnam et du Cambodge, au sud de la Tha\u00eflande et \u00e0 travers la P\u00e9ninsule Malaise et Singapour jusqu’\u00e0 Sumatra et Born\u00e9o.
IUCN Red List<\/a>.

Les deux femelles ci-dessous, surprises en pleine conversation, ont l’air vraiment \u00e9tonn\u00e9es de rencontrer des touristes dans cette zone. L’esp\u00e8ce est bavarde et nous avons \u00e9galement rencontr\u00e9 un m\u00e2le en conversation<\/a> avec un m\u00e2le Elattoneura aurantiaca !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Libellago<\/strong> ; le genre a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Selys en 1840 et on pense qu\u2019il est form\u00e9 du latin libellula<\/em> pour libellule et du suffixe ago<\/em>, sans doute par imitation de la construction du terme virago, qui, en latin, signifie<\/a> \u00ab femme forte et courageuse comme un homme \u00bb et donc \u00e9ventuellement h\u00e9ro\u00efne (vir<\/em> pour homme<\/em> et ago<\/em> = ?<\/em> \u00ab . Le suffixe -ago, ne semble pourtant pas avoir de signification qui expliquerait la construction des tr\u00e8s rares mots fran\u00e7ais qui l\u2019utilisent. C\u2019est l\u2019explication d\u00e9fendue tr\u00e8s succinctement par Ngiam et Ng (4).
Et j\u2019ai pass\u00e9 de longues heures \u00e0 essayer de confirmer cette hypoth\u00e8se ; et finalement, Selys, dans l\u2019Appendix de sa \u00ab Monographie des libellulid\u00e9es d\u2019Europe<\/em> \u00bb (5) et plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment dans sa \u00ab Note sur le triangle disco\u00efdal des Libellulid\u00e9es<\/em> \u00bb \u00e9crit \u00e0 propos du genre Libellago : \u00ab\u00a0Ce genre, tr\u00e8s-distinct sous tous les rapports, rappelle certaines Libellules. On peut, \u00e0 la rigueur, y d\u00e9couvrir un triangle disco\u00efdal, mais il ne diff\u00e8re pas, par sa construction, des autres cellules carr\u00e9es<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. Il faut donc bien comprendre Libellago comme \u00ab ayant des similitudes avec les Libellules \u00bb sur le plan de la nervation.
Plus tard, je me suis aper\u00e7u que cette r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, que j\u2019ai eue tant de mal \u00e0 trouver, est dans Wikipedia<\/a>.
Hyalina<\/strong>, du grec ancien hyalinos<\/em>, qui signifie transparent<\/em> (comme du cristal) se rapporte bien s\u00fbr \u00e0 ses ailes d\u00e9pourvues de marques color\u00e9es ; Selys \u00e9crit : \u00ab\u00a0le m\u00e2le est distinct de tous par ses ailes sup\u00e9rieures sans taches\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
