Il existe actuellement 88 esp\u00e8ces de Teinobasis (22 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvertes depuis 2005 !) distribu\u00e9es au sud-est de l’Asie jusqu’en Australie o\u00f9 l’on trouve Teinobasis rufithorax<\/a> que j’ai eu le plaisir de rencontrer.
Avant ce s\u00e9jour \u00e0 Born\u00e9o, je n’avais jamais rencontr\u00e9 un autre membre de ce genre en Asie ; au Sarawak, nous en avons rencontr\u00e9 trois Teinobasis cryptica, T. ruficollis, T. suavis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous n’avons rencontr\u00e9 qu’une femelle, dans une tourbi\u00e8re foresti\u00e8re mar\u00e9cageuse, en compagnie de Rory Dow (1) ; quoi de mieux que de rencontrer une esp\u00e8ce en pr\u00e9sence de son descripteur sur le site o\u00f9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9lev\u00e9 l’holotype<\/a> !
De plus, et c’est une chance pour un amateur, Teinobasis cryptica se distingue de tous les autres Teinobasis (au moins du Sundaland) par le fait que la face dorsale du thorax est p\u00e2le, non couverte de coloration noire : \u00ab\u00a0Easily distinguished from other Teinobasis species known to occur in Sundaland by the pale dorsum of the synthorax in both sexes<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb (1).
L’abdomen de la femelle mesure 31.5 mm (hors ovipositeur et appendices anaux) ; elle mesure vraisemblablement autour de 37 mm.
Rory Dow nous a dit qu’il pensait que les m\u00e2les vivaient dans la canop\u00e9e ; Robin Ngiam & Marcus Ng qu’ils ont vu les deux sexes pendant en dessous des feuilles (2) dans l’ombre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il n’est actuellement connu \u00e0 Born\u00e9o que du Sarawak et de Brunei, mais aussi de de Malaisie P\u00e9ninsulaire et de Singapour.

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong><\/span>
Teinobasis<\/strong> (3) ; Selys avait d\u00e9crit cette esp\u00e8ce comme appartenant aux Telebasis, qui est un genre exclusivement am\u00e9ricain. Kirby, lorsqu\u2019il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 ce nouveau genre en 1890 a remplac\u00e9 le mot grec \u2013tele<\/em>, signifiant \u2013\u00a0\u00e0 distance<\/em>, par \u2013teino<\/em>, pour\u00a0\u00e9tendre<\/em>, ceci pour souligner le fait que l\u2019aile est tr\u00e8s p\u00e9tiol\u00e9e et que ce r\u00e9tr\u00e9cissement s\u2019\u00e9tend, selon les mots m\u00eames de Selys \u00ab\u00a0jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019origine du quadrilat\u00e8re apr\u00e8s la nervure post-costale\u00a0\u00bb.
Cryptica<\/strong> ; laissons R. Dow (1) expliquer ce choix : \u00ab\u00a0An adjective, from the Latin crypticus. Named for its cryptic colouration and behaviour. Adjectif d\u00e9riv\u00e9 du latin crypticus<\/em>, d\u00e9signant une esp\u00e8ce dont la coloration et le comportement sont myst\u00e9rieux.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n
